Good to see its 3PT lifting! Fix that tyre and you're in business. :) You've got a good machine for that money. :drink:

Hey Patrick! I replaced the air/water valves in both rear tires and pumped them back up. Both are holding air just fine now, although a new wheel loop on one side may be in order, we'll see. I've got to change the engine oil and the hydraulic oil for the loader, then it's 100% done and I can begin repairs/welding patches into my JD 25A flail mower. Should have it up at my place in a matter of a few weeks to really put it through it's paces!

i put a 500lb grader box on the 3PT hitch last night and made the adjustment for the hydraulic control valve. I need to grab a measurement quick and set the quadrant stops, but that'll only take a few minutes.

Sounds great ..... well done! Don't worry about a small mistake - repairing cars, we do similar things all the time. It's mostly unfamiliarity, but haste, inattention/distraction or a combination of several can bring about the need to part-dismantle and correct something - as long as it is working properly, then it's completed. :drink: I know it's going to be strong - it's all new, or as good as new inside! :D

PS: Have you seen this thread? (I have been a little busy ;)

Thanks! Yep, I've made many mistakes in the past, I suppose it's a learning experience as long as I don't repeat them. I'd say that unfamiliarity, haste and inattention to details along with stress caused this one. But it's fixed now so I'm quite happy. It has no problems at all lifting my flail mower, which I'm guessing is 600-700lbs (8' John Deere 25A)

I haven't seen that thread, I'll start getting caught up!

PS- for anyone with a MF35, the hood service panel on the top, there is a knob. Mine is thoroughly corroded and won't hold the hood shut. I found the PN in my parts manual, but I was just curious if this just screws in? Or is it almost like a "T" shape at the end like a dzus fastener? Looks like it used to be threaded, and the part it screws into seems to agree with my assumption. If it's just threads I may see if I can grind off the old and weld on some new threads.

Hi Shaeff ..... just trying to picture what you're describing - is it one of two 1/4-turn twist-locks for access to the radiator cap and fuel filler?
Can you let me know the part number please mate? Thanks. :)

Yep, exactly. My 35 utility has one large service panel to fill fuel and radiator. Part number is- 184674M1

I just need to know if it screws in or if it's actually a 1/4 turn T-shaped fastener or a course threaded screw head. Thanks!

Part No 184674M1 - couldn't find it in either if the parts suppliers' websites I use, so I Google searched and found among others this thread:

http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/parts-repairs/273001-massey-ferguson-35-fuel-door.html

Does it look like yours? If so, I believe your tractor is a Ferguson TO35.

If it looks like this instead - Part No 828223M91, it may be a Ferguson but more likely a Massey Ferguson 35 Std or Deluxe.

S.42872 Bonnet Fastener Kit

Look closely at the styling of the grille and bonnet in the illustrations - that might clarify what you need.
Both versions are readily available - several US vendors come up in a search, plus a lot in Great Britain too.
Either way, both models were extremely well-engineered, mechanically quite similar and built to work for decades.
Have you found the serial number? That would tell you exactly what it is, you could even work out what year it was built.
Hope this helps.

My machine is definitely a Massey 35 Utility, according to the serial number it was built in 1964. It does, however, look like the TO-35 hood/bonnet fastener. Weird!

Picture of my serial tag below, and here's a link to a previous post I made after I found information on these serial tags:
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...97-early-60s-mf-35-utility-4.html#post4280957

And the last pic is from AGCO Pubs where I got the part number. I just can't tell whether it's a 1/4 turn fastener or screw-type. I'm just going to assume it's screw-type judging by where it clips in and the shape of that. I can very easily screw a course thread lag bolt into it, so I'll see if I can cut one and weld it onto my old one. Seems they're about $18-$20 from a dealer, plus shipping.

Thanks for all the help!

Yes, after I sent those links I noticed on the pic from the TBN thread  the "MF" badge, complete with the Triple-Triangle logo - they became MF some time in 1958 from memory. US models were manufactured in Detroit and may have had different styling to GB/Aust/SAfrica etc models.
If a bolt readily screws into the lower part, that might be an alternative, although a replacement should last about another 40 years
Seems you're almost through your repair list ..... down to the small things anyhow - well done!

:) Yep! I may well grab a factory replacement if my idea doesn't pan out. However, I've got better things to spend $20 on than a small knob right now. I grabbed a new lower hydraulic suction hose for the loader and drained all the fluid out. It was (of course) milky white, water laden fluid. I'll refill and flush again early in the spring. Need to put the new hose on and refill, change engine oil/filter, and weld some chain hooks onto the bucket. I think that should about do it!

Picture of the bonnet and lock?
Are you asking for a picture of mine? If so, I should be able to snap a pic within the next few days. For the time being, I'll leave you all with this recent pic of the MF35 Utility with my JD 25A on the back. The tractor's maiden voyage carrying any weight in well over 6 years. (or longer, who knows!)

Edit: that's the neighbor's house in the background, tractor still resides at my parents' house until it's all buttoned up. Keeps me from carting tools back and forth!
