Good morning! 76˚ heading to 100˚ and beyond - not a cloud in the sky.
Drew you need more than 10' wide.

Project of the day: My wife noticed one under counter light fixture not working. Solution turn on the fixture switch. Done for the day! But now the mystery for the day is how did it get cut off???? All the under counter light are controlled by a wall switch and there is never any need to flip the hard to find individual switch. Oh well, sometimes pondering will create more projects.

We replace a couple of our under the cabinet lights a few months ago and somehow ended up with one that has magnetic switch which must be turned on each time we cut on the wall light switch. Went back and reread the package and it was not that clear on the package at all.

Ron, I'm pricing carports for my travel trailer right now, and going through the same thing. Mine is just under 31 overall, and they make a 31 and a 36, so I figured I'd get the 36.
But what if I ever got a motorhome? What if the buyer of my home wants to put a diesel pusher under there? What if I go wild and crazy and want to also?
I'm figuring ten feet wide and twelve feet high, and priced out 31, 36 and 41, with three sides and one rear entrance door, certified to 130mph, $3,780; $4,595 and $7015. While the sides add a lot of cost it also means the sun isn't beating down on the rv tires and sides. So what size...36 would at least do some good for most small motorhomes, so probably a little larger than I need now but some hedge for the future. I also realize many large motorhomes won't fit under a twelve foot ceiling, though all travel trailers and fifth wheels will. I think...Ron, your thoughts? The only other option I thought about was going to the next width, 12 feet wide.
Real easy to make these things way too expensive. With open walls width might not be an issue; with walls, might get tight in there. But 10 feet wide is only one foot clearance per side. Access to get into outside lockers would sure be blocked.
I need to make a decision on a carport by next summer. My Sunbrella RV cover is starting to die. Plus it's harder for me to get it up on top of RV.
RV's generally are under 13' at the center. Sides are at 12'. I find 5th wheels are higher than motorhomes.
My requirements would be for width that would allow opening of slides when under carport. That would require at 14' width minimum . Side walls at 12'. 12 gauge frame. For length I would want something to get a 40' motorhome out of the sun. That would require something around 45'. Fully covered sides would not be required. Maybe 1 panel down. My port would be North to South positioned. Afternoon sun is protected by my pole barn. Other considerations. Many motor homes today with tag axles are over 45' long. They have automotive paint and clear coat that do not require as much protection from the sun like gel coat type walls.
I priced a car port with material from Menard's a few weeks ago. 13' high X 16' wide X 46' long. Built with 4X6 uprights, trusses and metal for roof. Material was just shy of $3k. My son, grandson and I would put it up. That fits my budget. I believe I can beat Menard's for price from a local yard. But maybe not if I buy when they have a 11% sale.

68 this morning and headed to 89 today.

Have to take oldest to therapy today as wife can't drive. Then back to mow and work on bathroom. New litter is being delivered currently and that will be spread this week.

Wng yep he's still sleeping and staying awake during the day for a couple of hours if she'll put him down.

Drew. 10' is too tight to back an 8' trailer in. I know it sounds like plenty of room but it's tight. Go atleast 12'.

I sold my motor home 22 years ago, they're not for all of us, but I did discover that minimums for the car port are 10' longer 2' taller and at least 12' wide. I ended up closing mine in, made a great classic car work shop.
"The weather is here, I wish you were beautiful..."My apologies to Jimmy Buffett. Lovely day today, then the heat comes back.

Good Morning! 63F @ 7:45AM. Sunny. High 92F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Finished sanding the side sliding door on the van yesterday. I should try to get it primed today. Also designed and started machining on the threaded boss for the oil tank. And got the M16x1.5 tap ordered from McMaster. Should get the paint ordered today as well. Blue it is...

77.4F and sunny @ 11:15 ... high predicted to be 87F. Forecast for the week updated to include chances for rain every day starting tomorrow through this coming Monday. The lack of precip has gotten bad enough that the local forecasters have started to comment on it.

Got some cleaning done up in the shop yesterday.

Probably a trip into town today on the agenda to mow down the weeds at the commercial property.

see, I knew you guys would know about carports. 12 foot wide it is.

spent an hour rototilling the sunflower field, about half of them have survived, looking pretty ratty in there.
Then mowed the orchard with the Gravely garden tractor; usually mow with the JD but with the new engine on the Gravely, it pretty much
can do anything. Just not as comfortably as the green machine.
Plus it's a 50 deck instead of a 60 and I use it more as a light brush machine than a mower. But the teenage helper was using the main mower so
I gave my old friend a ride. 30 years old this year.
The frame and trans is probably built to handle 30hp, while in reality 8-24hp was run through it over the years it was built. Trans is getting noisy, probably a worn bearing, and it sets up a nice whine when I get it into fourth gear out on the local roads, heading to the far side of my place; can't cut through, swamp and planted fields.

One of these days I need to find a "real" Gravely dealer who has been selling/working on these things since the beginning. They would know what to do with the trans.
Whole lot of gears in there and I am no mechanic. I haven't been on the Gravely owner's website in a while, should post there. Unfortunately our Gravely site here is very minimally attended. You can have great conversations with yourself in there...

I thought the blades would be dull but
they weren't, no wispies left though that old deck has some spindles not exactly lined up with each other; you can tell looking down a long lawn.
I have hit some nasty stuff with that Gravely and it just comes back for more. Probably why folks like them, built like little tractors, and for sure their spindle quality is very high.

Been raining all day and in the 60s...not predicted.

After going to the gym, I picked up some antifreeze at the local auto parts chain store - decided to get some Final Charge for the tractor...the guy had to go to the back to get the jugs. Laid them on their side on a towel on the back seat floor for the ride. Got home and saw a pink spot...one of the jugs had leaked...opened the cap and saw that the foil had been busted off, and about a pint or two was missing. :(
