1960 Chevy?

got the parts cut and installed in the rv, not close enough to avoid some wood putty which is
the final step for the joint. Looks better already.
got lucky with the cutting, had a freud fine blade on chop saw and it left a very smooth edge
Nice!

70°F and .05 inches rain

Yesterday’s property tax seminar was very well done and lasted almost 3 hours. County has been trying to revamp this almost 3 years and some of prior meetings have been borderline fiascos. They appear to have finally gotten it together as implementation takes hold. Has to do with ag tax reduction. We lost ours a few years ago. Once we get fenced and the cattle back we can requalify for that portion of the property. An ok amount of $ but definitely not compelling. Maybe not enough to balance against the potential downsides. At this point I’m leaning to just maintaining current status as safest.

A nice dinner with BIL, celebrated a belated birthday of his GF.

No definitely plans for today other than hoping to mow but that will depend on wx

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day.

Worked some more on the welding table and found some flapper disks for the 41/2 inch grinders. They actually work good but takes forever on a 3 by 5 ft table. Will look into the 3M and bigger diameter ones

Worked the string trimmer a couple of hours until my back started to complain

Lubed the Zero turn. Have air operated and manual Lincoln grease guns but now using the M18 grease gun with a long hose and Locknlube coupling. 10 zerks from above and 4 under for two driveshafts. Also replaced a scalping wheel that was worn out

75F and sunny @ 13:00, calling for a high of 80F today.

Slow getting rolling today, didn't get to sleep until after 03:00, got up early and then fell back asleep on the couch until around noon.

Yesterday did end up being garden catch up day:

Spent the first part of my time out there disentangling cucumber and winter squash vines from the remesh panels we're using as fencing on the north end of the garden and getting those threaded up through the arched trellis.

Think I got the panels relocated to where it won't be a problem but will need to keep an eye on it:

Then I got all the tomatoes pruned, including the ones in the grow bags.

I'm thinking that the issue may primarily be Septoria Leaf Spot but could have some Early Blight mixed in as well. Will try treating with the copper fungicide to see if that slows it down any.

Did find this little guy as well ... first one I've seen this year:

IMG_3797 copy.jpg

Will need to keep an eye out for more.

Hopefully we'll get some tomatoes after all is said and done:

IMG_3798 copy.jpg

The Woman (supposedly) watered and fed all the indeterminate tomatoes on the straight trellis with 1 gallon of fertilized solution each.

I got all the Sunny Boy tomatoes watered/fed after pruning them.

I then topped up all the tomato plants (likely Bush Beefsteaks) in the grow bags with a screened compost/peat moss mix to within an inch of the top and installed cages on all but 2 of them. Got water catch pans placed under some of the bags still have more to do today. And all tomato plants in the bags need to be fed/watered today.

Did some trimming as well on the summer squash while I was doing that.

Woman did some weeding on the winter squash on the west side of the arched trellis. Need to get that mulched today with some straw.

She headed off with the neighbor friend to a concert or ballet "in the park" around 19:30 while I finished up in the garden and watched the nightly bat ballet.

Big cast last night ... must have been a dozen of them. Pretty wild.

Yesterday's haul:

Some of the summer squash plants are getting hit pretty hard with squash vine borers ... not sure what I'm going to do about that yet.

May try to treat and hope for the best ... or just start some more seeds.

At any rate, I'm glad that we've gotten as much summer squash put up as we already have.

Beyond the above, the first task on the menu for today will be to take the Sawzall out and see if I can cut the rod on a cattle panel to free this guy up who's currently wedged in between the rods:

Would be a real pity to lose it ...

Hope everyone is having a decent Sunday ... (y)

Is that the job supervisor on the porch? :)
Looks like a lot of work was done in this good weather.
Which supervisor, Snagglepuss or the boy? Both participated in work the same...
Was a good day, none of that shrub removal was in the plans, but it looks better. They kept encroaching out and out and out, amazing the matt of roots under ground, they just went every where. course now she wants grass planted so far back, then more flowers...

57 sweet degrees...going to 80.

Condolences ArlyA.

Nice work, BEF.

I don't understand why it takes me so long to lube my zero turn...I am careful and clean up the excess, but 3 hours, plus prep time? 19 zerks, and 8 spots to oil...it's a real workout crawling under, over and squeezing into so many tight spots. I started late since the grass was so wet, and I do it in the yard, therefore the dew was falling by the time I finished, so didn't get a chance to mow to enjoy the new grease. :)

My wife has been up at our grandaughter's house, babysitting and having a great time. My son and his wife went to stay in Lexington for a concert Friday night, and then to climb McAfee Knob yesterday. His first time. They sent some great pix.

Another "National Day"...at least this time it makes sense...National Watermelon Day!
only a couple zerks on my zero turn, none on spindles.
Have wanted to hike to McAfee but haven't made it. I understand they made larger parking area and put trail on a bridge over the road.

Many older houses and barns are set close to the road and many are separated by the road was the original path went between them as a cart track. Most people back then would not have a useless yard it would be grazed.
As time went on and money and time became available to waste the front yards came into being. Many of the old paths were modified as the "new" roads came into existence as often there would not be enough room to follow the old paths.
Many like that around here, old house and barn have the road going between them, like my neighbors. When the original farm got subdivided, including my lot, the house and barn are now owned separately. My neighbor bought the old farm house on our side of the road, neighbor across the road now has the barn. At least they saved the barn, and it looks nice.
G' Morning! lower 70's going to high 90's....uhgh. Like Spike said 2 more months, but I do remember sweating a lot while trick or treating as a kid.
So, maybe 3 months.

BEF, the next door neighbors' place is for sell. Comes with plenty of hot summers. :) and mild winters.

M7040, you sure have a lot of nice tools. Hope your wifey is feeling ok today.

Y'all have a blessed day, you hear?
Way too far south for me, I prefer a little cold in the winter, but not Canada cold either.

61°F and clear skies this morning, only got up to 79° here today. We finally shook out of our rain/hot/rain/hot cycle this weekend.

Been awhile. Got a comment the other day from RNG on a Facebook post which served as a reminder that I hadn't been here for far too long. Looks like everyone's still busy. Hope all are well.

The 10mm kidney stone I though had been blasted into dust a few months ago was not. In fact, it had just been pushed down the tube I was told it would not go down, and settled just outside my bladder. Doctor went in Thursday with a laser, broke it up, and hauled it out. That was no fun. The two days since have been no fun either. Ouch. I go back next Thursday to get the stent removed from my ureter. More no fun stuff.

Of course, now that the miserable weather has broken, I'm sidelined. Figures. So it goes.

Good evening, gents.
My sincerest sympathies
