Good morning. Spent a couple of hours yesterday pulling ragwort again. This time my wife came too. She brought a book with her to read and drove up the edge of the field every 15 minutes or so to collect my full sacks. A stiff westerly was blowing hard enough to put waves on the pond, keeping the horseflies away and me nice and cool, so my least favourite chore for once wasn't bad at all.

some day I want to build a lean to on the back side of the barn to park the camper under, with a concrete floor. my wife says I have other projects to finish first.

My wife says that to me every week too. She is right, so nowadays I try to only start 2 jobs for every one I manage to finish.

Poured second cup of coffee. 53° with mostly clear skies this morning. Heading to 83° with mostly sunny skies. Did inventory of my diesel and gas cans. They are all full. Tractor and mower are about half full. Not much fuel used this summer because it has been so dry. Need to put FEL on tractor and turn over my top soil pile. Weeds are growing on it. Even without rain. That's about all I have planned for the day. But something always shows up.
Buckeye, don't do like I did. Put up a pull barn and lean to. Our 19' travel trailer fit perfectly under it. Then bought a 22' boat. Nice fit for it. Next a 28' boat. would not fit under lean to but was OK in barn. Moved up to a 32' boat. Stored that at Marina. Our 35' Motorhome will not fit under lean to or in barn either. Should have built a 14' high barn and lean to.

67 going to 80 and a little rain nearby may mosey over here.

Changed the oil in the mower and log splitter yesterday...log splitter always difficult and messy due to where they located the drain plug. Nice to have the splitter start in only 7 pulls after sitting (dry) since April. Can only find 10%ethanol gas here, but have been religious about adding treatment and sea foam and running til empty.

Buppies, hope the nose is better.

This morning he's having Cape Canaveral beans from Florida, the aroma that's out of this world.
One cup and he lands in his tractor seat.

speaking of which, headed out to rototill sunflower patch before rain comes at noon. Pretty wet out overnight but was very dry before so doubt the earth is very damp.
Hope it will be after today's rain, we could use some and not just isolated showers.

Ron, I'm pricing carports for my travel trailer right now, and going through the same thing. Mine is just under 31 overall, and they make a 31 and a 36, so I figured I'd get the 36.
But what if I ever got a motorhome? What if the buyer of my home wants to put a diesel pusher under there? What if I go wild and crazy and want to also?
I'm figuring ten feet wide and twelve feet high, and priced out 31, 36 and 41, with three sides and one rear entrance door, certified to 130mph, $3,780; $4,595 and $7015. While the sides add a lot of cost it also means the sun isn't beating down on the rv tires and sides. So what size...36 would at least do some good for most small motorhomes, so probably a little larger than I need now but some hedge for the future. I also realize many large motorhomes won't fit under a twelve foot ceiling, though all travel trailers and fifth wheels will. I think...Ron, your thoughts? The only other option I thought about was going to the next width, 12 feet wide.
Real easy to make these things way too expensive. With open walls width might not be an issue; with walls, might get tight in there. But 10 feet wide is only one foot clearance per side. Access to get into outside lockers would sure be blocked.

What's your incremental cost to add 2 feet of width and 2 feet of height?
My "RV shed" looked plenty big enough.

But then I put in pallet racking on one side (4' deep) and shelving (2' deep) on the other and can just squeeze my little truck (8' wide) in with walking room on the side.

I think even for a travel trailer you should plan on 12' wide minimum.

Project of the day: My wife noticed one under counter light fixture not working. Solution turn on the fixture switch. Done for the day! But now the mystery for the day is how did it get cut off???? All the under counter light are controlled by a wall switch and there is never any need to flip the hard to find individual switch. Oh well, sometimes pondering will create more projects.
