Good morning!!!!

Good Morning All, 58 here this morning going to 82. 70% chance of thunder storms and showers today. Pretty good chance through Sunday night. Going to run to central Va to pick up another load of furniture I have in storage. Got new wipers on the truck so that might help today.

What are you guys down in Texas doing? Do you have a bunch of 24/7 prayer meetings, praying for rain? Or are a bunch of you just praying that your children would get a chance to learn to swim? Praying for you all, for safety and more normal weather.

Eric Praying for your speedy recovery, 16c sounds good to me. It's a little hot here for me but I'll take what comes.

Daugen You said something about wanting a date, Bonnie seams to have taken you up on that and settled down to stay for a while. Is she your type? Ed

Poured first cup of coffee. 57° with light fog this morning. Heading to 80° with low humidity. Got another .05" of rain yesterday evening. Not enough to keep lawn green. Yesterdays doctor appointment did not go good. Another appointment tomorrow to see where things are headed.
Eric, take care of that cold.
Good Morning All.

warm sticky 71 this morning going up to low 80's. Bonnie seems to be a houseguest who has stayed too long, slowly wandering up the East Coast
throwing bands of rain/storms into the coastal area. And I still have to go water freshly planted shrubs today anyway; these half inch rains, even one day after another, are not getting down to the roots. But oh yeah does it make the grass go bonkers.

Car still sitting in parking lot. Mechanic came to look at it, very pleased the car rolled and was not locked in park, despite the gearshift indicator saying it was in park. Trans shift interlock the culprit, and nothing in manual for unlocking it other than "see authorized Jaguar retailer". Car will be trailered out gently, I hope, late this afternoon if the rains aren't coming down. We have a deal, pouring rain, forget about it. Come Saturday if you have to, no rush.

going to finish the mowing this morning, mostly the fields and the orchard. Last two years I've mowed the fields with the LP finish mower behind the Kubota and it did a beautiful job. Now with the water ditches, I can't get the big mower in there, so I'm doing all 8 acres with a 60 inch deck under the JD X750. Glad it's a diesel and glad I now have a diesel tank, which works beautifully. Lot of mowing, grew up mowing a 7 acre lawn, I guess I got my wish of recreating my childhood...and sure a tiny bit of be careful what you wish for. I get occasional help with the weedeating, but my helper staff has been minimal this year. I stepped on the scale this morning and it had gone nowhere, meaning not down with all this exercise. Perhaps still a little too much fuel being given to the engine...

Feel badly for all you folks in Texas. The weather report continues to be dangerous for you, historic flooding. Please be careful you guys.

Bonnie is just missing me actually; going to be a soggy day in Nags Head and the shore for sure.

66 and clouds have rolled in. Should hit 84, but may get a thunderstorm this afternoon.

Retilled the garden yesterday and took the tiller off so I can run the bush hog today.

Pulled my trailer to get a load of pine bark mulch yesterday. First time towing with my new truck - didn't even notice the trailer was there, except gas mileage dropped a notch. Very different feel when I towed with my old 4Runner.

Accident was 4 weeks tomorrow, just got an estimate from the other guy's insurance company yesterday...very poor job - leaving out 11 obvious body and lamp assembly parts that would need to be fixed/replaced on the estimate...even so it was totaled. On the comparative value report - left off 6 obvious optional equipment items that my 4Runner has - such as power moonroof - but showed the comps as having them...so they deducted quite a lot of value...then took 50% off of their valuation for high mileage.

I did my own estimate and comps and wrote them back telling them what they owe me. We'll see. Haven't even started the medical/injury part.

Good morning! lightning, thundering and a whole mess of rain. We might be stuck on the hill for a while.

Pfister made good on the warranty on the kitchen faucet and sent me a new one yesterday. I just needed a water control valve but my model had been discontinued so they sent me a complete new set free, valued at $415 on Amazon. Installed and working good and has continued lifetime warranty.

Take it easy Eric.

Sure is good to hear a positive warranty story like this.

Hope you survive with the floods with no serious damage.

that's great news Don. Billy, not so good, did you use the online estimators? Has to be some comps for such a popular vehicle, many of which have lasted so long, a testimony to their good build and enduring value. Enduring value, that's what you want...
More importantly, and I will fully understand if you want to be careful about what you say online...how is your neck? Still hurt?
You can't hurt someone like they did to you without making it right. And that might include being more generous on your car, assuming it's the same insurance company.
Insurance companies know exactly what your accident is worth. Hope you can use that as leverage.

The lightning storm just passed over us and is sitting on top of Don. We got 2.18" so far and more coming. Under Flash flood warning again. I'm going to hold off going to work. I know Don and I are high enough to stay above the water line, but may get stranded elsewhere.

Eric, hope you get better quick.

67 this morning and headed to 82 today. .80 inches of rain overnight.

May start working on building. Depends on the weather. If rain starts I'll be run into the chicken coops for maintenance work.

Eric. Get better. That machine is very dusty to operate. So I have fans running and start at the fans and drive to the front doors. These are tunnel style barns. 20,000 sqft each. It calls for 60hp but my mx5200 handles it just fine.

Drew. That 3 tons is its empty weight. Add another ton of litter and you know it's back there. When empty it's all tounge weight. It squats my 3/4ton pickup pretty good, about 4 inches. I wouldn't hook it to a half ton.

Overcast and foggy this morning, upper 60's, may get close to 80° and very sticky. Bonnie is raining on our place in Southern Shores (just across the Wright Memorial Bridge), I talked to this weeks tenant this morning, he said it's like a sauna there. He said the pool is way to cool to swim, it's solar heated, so with no Sol, no heat. They can still use the hot tub. We're going down in July and September, it's usually nice by then.

Drew, that's sort of what I meant by issues that drop the value of luxury cars quickly, regardless of brand. In a Jeep or a Chevy, you could bypass the interlock and ride on, most luxury cars are built for the first owner, meaning they are not going to touch it themselves, but call service to come fix it. That's why in your case, it's an OK thing and actually works out well for you, because you can afford to repair minor stuff, but a lot of people can't afford the luxury surcharge for repairs, thus the resale falls. As I said before, that's why I drove Cadillac's and diesel trucks for years, I had access to reasonable repair costs.

Good morning all. 66F and moderate rain 2.0 in. in gauge. Rain has ended for now bur more in forecast this afternoon. High should be about 75F, but they had less than an 1 forecast so who knows? Working on consulting and inside putter jobs.

77.2F and partly sunny/cloudy @ 10:15 ... calling for a high of 84F and chance of thunderstorms later today.

Haven't been out there yet this morning to see how many stragglers there are, but the bee hive and (most of the) bees have been successfully removed. Guy estimated that they had probably been there about two weeks based on the size of the hive.

Removing siding. Only had to remove four pieces thankfully:

Cutting out the exterior sheathing:

First sections of the comb:

These two pieces are about half of what he eventually took out:

Getting the last sections:

He thinks he got the queen, so hopefully they won't try to re-establish in our walls. We got a big bowl of honeycomb with pollen and nectar ... and beeswax. Have to melt that down later today and run it thru some cheese cloth to filter the crud out and separate the honey/nectar/pollen from the wax.

I didn't get stung at all ... he managed to catch a few tho' ...

Did find out that there is apparently no insulation in the garage walls ... another item for the "to-do" list ...

Thinking that today I'm going to head over to the polebarn and see if I can't get the leaves and weeds on the back side cleaned up. Mebbe move the 27' extension ladder over and see about cleaning the gutters. And cut the grassy area above ... hasn't been cut yet this year and it's probably 3' tall.

Also drain and replace the oil in the Simplicity.

And refill the bird feeders.

Be safe
Have a great day

85, feels like 90, just came in from mowing and brush clearing; maddeningly managed to high center my Gravely again in exactly the same spot over a ditch. My rear hitch keeps hitting...so down on the ground with a stick trying to dig the dirt out, sticks under the wheels, all the basics, nothing worked, until someone stopped, couple guys with a lawn mowing business. They were pulling a trailer so I kinda wondered how this was going to work, but they said no problem, pulled out a Hustler Zturn and hooked a rope onto it. And managed to spin a rut in the lawn. Ok...they backed up onto the pavement, and still spun their tires, not good at all for zturn trans for sure...I asked them if we could both get a shovel under the rear hitch, and with two of us taking the weight off and the other guy likely abusing the poor zturn, out came my garden tractor. I was covered in dirt, and I swear I will not do this again. Guaranteed. ha
Finished my mowing, chatted with two neighbors on the way home, have to take the long way around to get to the other side of my property to mow the roadsides there. Half an hour with one guy, half an hour and a nice cold beer with the other, and I headed home. The second stop was at my ditch guy's house and he had the rear double wheels off his ditch tractor, a big old IH, replacing the axle bearings.
The shaft was pretty messed up but they said they could grind it down. Nice big tapered bearing going in, weighed several pounds, made in the USA.

now I'm home and showered, waiting for the guy to come get my car.

Got area above polebarn mowed down ... gonna need some serious raking and/or blowing to get up all the leaves and grass. Fortunately not too many sticks.

Got about 80% of the underside of the MMM deck cleaned off in preparation for changing out the blades and then we got a quick little downpour ... sun came back out though. The old blades I took off look pretty good - no big dents, chips or gouges. Deck cleaned and sharpened blades now installed.

Moved Water Buffalo up to the house for repairs ... has one tire that leaks down slowly ... went flat over winter. Looks like the bearing is out on that wheel as well.

Got the area behind the barn cut down including the weeds right up next to the building. About 80% cleaned up.

Oil filter reinstalled on Simplicity and new oil added.

Came over to the house for a snack and while I was here we had another pretty good little downpour. Enough that I won't be going back over to the barn for a while as it will be wet.

Probably head up to the shop and start welding the frame for the soil/gravel screen together.
