Coffee is done brewing. 50° with rain this morning. Heading to 60° with rain and thunder storms all day. Got Garden Pond up and running yesterday. Needed to fix a leak. Changing the lighting in pole to LED. Should be a good day to install the one light that has arrived.
Good Morning All.

Good morning all. 53 here this morning going to 65, 80% chance of showers here today. Will be a nice temp. for moving furniture today. Having to lift it out of the back of a 45' box trailer, about shoulder high. Big desk and dresser are going to be fun. I keep thinking that I am working my behind off, for me any way, so i can move to the city and have less work to do. Truck is a Dodge with a 318ci in it and it has to work mighty hard to run a interstate speeds. Lot of shifting up and down more than when I used to drive the big boys.

Don Yep the joys of city life. In my way of thinking what you are doing is fun and city life does not seem to have the adventure country life does. But that is not where my life is headed so I am going to enjoy it. I guess I can get used to setting by the pool sipping iced tea. :D I would get a portapower and use the short cylinder and a piece of plywood between the boom and the cylinder rod and take it a little past straight and see if you can improve it a little. You could be pleasantly surprised. Ed

57 and drizzle, going to 67. Ground is getting soggy a bit. Already need to mow and bush hog again.

Roy, those 12 hour plus days are tough. Hope you don't have too many like that.

Finally found a pressure washer part I needed - the hose connector to the pump...the hose side is threaded normally, but the pump side had a male connector that was slightly less than a standard half inch, and with a very narrow pitch on the threads...this piece is plastic and the threads finally wore out.

Over the last couple of months, checked several retail outlets when I'd be in their neighborhood, including a specialty pressure washer outfit, and looked at many websites before finally finding a Karcher parts manual...turns out to be a $4.95 part, but 7 bucks shipping. Hopefully will receive it by the time I need to use it...although the washer is 9 years old, it has a great Honda engine and not many hours.

53 this morning high of 67 later slight rain chances today much better tomorrow but cool only in 50s with 1.5 inches of rain. Glad you found your part wngsprd

61 going to 77 today, with some showers around Noon. Then another inch of rain tomorrow.
We were so dry that the first round was sucked up by the ground pretty well. As long as not too much comes down
in a few hours, the soil seems to handle these one inchers just fine. Now if we could get 1.5 inches per week, on Tuesdays only.
With guaranteed beautiful weekends. Instead mankind is likely to mess up our weather, not improve it...
however...
If you could set up Mother Nature's sprinkler system, how much rain would you want, and how often?
Don't we need those inch plus rains to get to tree roots?

Perhaps if I ask the politicians that instead of a chicken in my pot, how about better consistent weather and
let us grow our own chickens...mixing lots of metaphors here for sure. This year, anything and everything will get promised.

off to the lawyers to go over paperwork for buying the acre next door. Will finally have real farmland, if only a tiny bit, maybe 2/3 of an acre. I'm going to grow sunflowers this year, after we settle June 1. Got six packs of seeds in yesterday, need to plan the layout based on height and colors. Done this before, sunflowers are fun if they don't get blown over in a storm.

Weather forecast suggests it'll be Monday before we see any significant sun. Cloudy and showers between now and then.:smiley_aafz: I built a fire in the woodstove in my shop yesterday because it was so chilly out there and I wanted to do more tidying up in preparation for reassembling my '66 Honda 160 Scrambler. I'm gonna try to take the Mustang in for its biennial emissions test today-needed to renew its registration.

Don-glad you past the dicey part of the cedar incident.

Kevin- I sure sympathize with your shoulder issues. I have similiar issues-probably not as bad as yours-that can make sleep difficult. Pain seems to come and go, possibly related to what activities I've been doing.

Good morning! 51˚ unheard of in May, and sunny skies, heading to 80˚ a good day to dry out.

Yankeerider now I can concentrate on fixing it. A new cylinder is $580, and a hose probably around $150, the tree removal was $150 (well spent), I need to see if my homeowner's Ins. can be applied and if so what deductable, or go the repair route instead of replace route if possible.

The tractor started right up every time yesterday (about 10 times) so today I'll spray the connections for corrosion with DeOxIt. If I turn the key and the dash comes on it will start, if the key is turn on and the dash does nothing it does not. The dash does come on when I'm not in the seat so I think the connection (or the switch itself) at the starter switch is the problem. I don't know what what the part the relays play.

Ed, I sure was thinking of the tea and pool as I was walking back from the back forty leaving the stuck tractor to get equipment. You are right about an adventure every day, too bad they are not ALL enjoyable but if they were that predictable the adventure would be gone.

Good afternoon. This year I was beginning to have doubts that spring was ever going to happen. With the quantity of bugs that got splattered on my windscreen this morning, I think I can safely say that it has finally arrived.

RS I do like your LPGS thread, it's giving me lots of ideas for when (or should that be if) I finally get the hang of this welding game.

46F and overcast @ 07:30 ... high today 62F with a couple of thunderstorms around.

Got angle for the LPGS unloaded off the truck and moved into the shop yesterday. Need to get it cut down ... at 150 lbs per 10' length, handling it ain't no treat.

Also got lawn around the house mowed with the Simplicity, front still too wet to take the Kubota on it. Need to pull carb off Simplicity and clean it ... won't run without choking it. Pulled out a Juniper bush with the grapple down by the house that had died and added it to one of the piles.

Zack dropped off a couple of loads of ash this past weekend ... some of the rounds were pretty large, there's another two solid rounds just out of the frame:

IMG_0302.jpg

Managed to unhook the grapple off the SSQA a second time whilst trying to move them around. Think I probably need to investigate the fit on the Titan SSQA plates, as well as get the SSQA itself straightened up.

Wife was up last night several times with leg cramps, couldn't sleep ...

Need to refill bird feeders.

Don,

Glad to hear the tree was removed successfully with no injuries to anyone.

Regarding the relay, it's simply an electro-magnetic switch which uses a low current power source (ignition switch) to close an internal set of electrical contacts that carry high current (battery ---> starter)

One of the fun things about troubleshooting power equipment is there's always multiple possibilities ... :D

At least you have a windscreen ... otherwise it might be your teeth ... :D

I hate eatin' bugs ...

RS I do like your LPGS thread, ...
Thanks.

I'm probably going to make some mods to the design this morning and see if I can figure out the placement of the hydraulic cylinders for the blade height adjustment and tailgate, and model it in 3D. Probably do a couple of renderings and post them to the thread.

I'm certainly no expert, but the one pic of your welds that I can recall seeing was lookin' pretty good to me ... looked like a row of stacked dimes ...

Wish I could be that consistent with my weaves ... ;)

45 this morning and headed to 64 today. Rain be here in about 2 hours and then thunderstorms this afternoon.

Calf is at slaughterhouse. Wish there was one closer. 3 hour round trip. Before I left I did use the loader to clean out about 300 feet of ditch between the chicken coops. It now mostly drains. It's very hard to keep clean because in 300 feet I have less than 6 inches of fall.

Most of today will depend on rain, but need to walk birds and take boy to therapy since he's now 3 he's between programs so we are using insurance to get him therapy till August when pre-school starts. Then more fence work if it doesn't rain too much.

Don. Good news on tree. I hate electrical problems. Good luck.

Drew. With our soil here it takes 1/4 of inch of rain to wet the soil 1 inch deep. Ideally we would have 1-2 inches of rain every Thursday night and Friday morning. Keep us from having to run all weekend. These Monday, Tuesday rains means it'll dry up Saturday and Sunday and be time to roll. Everybody looks at it differently though.

Do you know the relationship of the power to the dash and the relays. The first click of the key (starter switch) the dash comes on and the second click the tractor cranks. If at the first click the dash does not come on it will not crank and if the dash does come on, it cranks. Are relays involved in turning on the dash at first click?

Leg cramps - first try drinking more water.

Good morning, Sunny but a cool 46 may get to 57.

Cup of Joe # 1 down.
Another night of poor at best sleep and I took my pill this time. Wife was getting upset with me flopping around in the bed trying to find a position that I could sleep in. Going to have to do something else because now both shoulders are giving me fits. I am wondering if it is something other than rotor cuff. I have to see the doctor later this month so I will pin him down then.

Yesterday when Brian and I were cutting back the brush up at the end of the lane by the road so you can see the on-coming traffic I noticed that the ditch to the creek had eroded the dirt away from the first power pole that feeds the eight properties on the lane. It looks like the pole was put in years ago and was not close to the ditch but over the years the water has washed the dirt away. On one side of the pole the dirt is about three to four foot higher that the water side. I don't know how far they put those things in but I bet there is not much left with dirt all the way around the bottom of the pole. So I called it in to the power co. so they can take a look and decide if it is a issue or not. Will be interesting to see what they say. Better they find out now than when the pole falls over and knocks out everyone's power.

There is a Turkey hen feeding under the bird feeder as I type. We got just enough rain over night to set the fertilizer and grass seed I did yesterday. I have to go to the post office later but not much else on the plate today. A friend is sending me some Lionel train engine shells to blast for him so he can repaint them.

Not much else.

Good morning friends. 51 degrees and sunny here so, great day to get a lot done. Think it's finally dry enough to put the 84" rear finish mower on and get busy down by workshop and horse barn. I've already mowed under oak trees with the zero turn. Forecast here is no big rain until next Monday.

Don, glad you got you backhoe rescued. Hope the cylinder issue gets resolved without replacement. I agree with others who advise working it a bit to see what happens, nothing to lose.

Drew, If had my rain wishes granted it would be 3/4" every Sunday night and another 3/4" Thursday night. But, beggars can't be choosers so .......... I'll take what ever I get.

Leg cramps or any cramps, as Don noted more water. Also try some potassium tablets. They help and work pretty quickly. Bananas have lots of potassium. When I used to play a lot of summer golf I would eat a banana at the turn.

Everyone have a great day!

Without having the WSM and wiring diagram for your tractor I'd just be guessing ...

I'll have a look at mine when I go up to the shop here in a bit and see what it looks like ... mebbe they did something similar, I believe they are around the same vintage (circa early to mid 2000's ?)

Leg cramps - first try drinking more water.

Day 9 of waking up to cloudy dreary weather, at least the last two afternoons have been real nice, no such luck for the next couple. What happened to spring?
