Don, neither. They do study the amyloid plaque build up vs brain function vs age, and better methods of dectecting and quantifying plaque buildup. There is other research going on, such as impact of sleep or lack of sleep on Alzheimer development, but I don't know much about what I am not being tested for. Opportunities come up to be involved in drug studies but not their main focus. It is the Charles Knight adult child study, ie Dad had Alzheimer.

Have to start prepping for next week trip to STL, gonna to some consulting and being a lab rat for Alzheimer research.

That's a very good thing you are volunteering for.

Hope the researchers can get all the info they want from scanning your brain and don't need to take it out to get a better look

No frost this morning, it's raining. Not Texas wet, just ordinary wet, with neither cats, nor even a single lost dog having descended from the sky.

Have 30 pieces of fresh cut oak coming today to make more raised beds. Lady asked if I wanted to pay for a second man to help unload, or would I assist the driver ? I would help I said, should be easy enough with pallet forks on the tractor. She said forks are not going to help - 2 tons of wood packed into what RNG would consider a Vanagon donor van !

28 right now...high of 58 today.
Fairly productive weekend...bit cool for outside work, but I did finish the chipping. Didn't get to the wood pile though.

Good morning all, hope you slept well. 42 here going to 76 with a chance of showers after 2pm.
The fire is still going and up over 9000 acres. They are using hellacopters To drop little balls that burst open and catch the woods on fire to back burn. Only 43% contained. We have a chance of showers or thunder showers all week so mabie that will help.

Roy Glad to see you "chipping" away at your work and not doing to much at once. Ed

54 high of 82 later today unsettled weather rest of week

Happy Monday morning everyone.
Summer has arrived, highs in the 80s this week. Long range forecast is much wetter than we have had which is fine, it's been too dry.
Carpenter coming at noon to break my office into iittle bits, bust up two old falling apart desks that made the move here, and should have been heaved before. To replace the desks I'm having a 12 foot long counter made covered in wood grain formica that will replace the desks and make a neater appearance.
i keep a second pc to pay bills with/type checks. Ancient thing but it does Quicken just fine. That has been disconnected, now I need to undo my main pc. Oh the yukky things I have found underneath and behind...places with little or no cleaning. When the sins of one's past comes back to revisit us. Or at least the dust balls do... I was hoping to get some field mowing done today but perhaps this afternoon.
Just beautiful weather out, sure don't want to be stuck inside.
Roy, glad you are feeling/doing better.

Coffee just finished brewing. 63° with mostly clear skies this morning. Heading to 82° with variable clouds. Visiting friends and some motorhome maintenance.
Good Morning All.

Good morning! 69˚ very cloudy. I might venture out with the tractor to do road repair if I don't sink too much. If I don't go over the same ground twice I might be OK. The chances of rain increase later in the week.

61 this morning and headed to 83 today. Rain starts tomorrow then for a couple of days.

Need to walk birds and feed calves. Then back and hook up GN and go get a 4-wheel wagon. I'm going to go through it and rebuild it. It is my grandfathers. And when I said something about buying one he told me to come get this one and redo it. It's a 7x14 but I'm thinking the new bed will be 8x16. It has some extension left in the frame. Then back to meet with a new helper. Local high schooler that is interested in the weed eating job. But I'll try to keep him busier than just that.

Just a beautiful morning here.

Hope they get those shenandoah fires out soon. My wife and I hiked a lot of those trails when we were dating.

And they found the body of the missing woman in white oak canyon. She had left a note in her vehicle. Sad.

70° yesterday, 80° today, but a surprise this morning at 39°, I just planted over a hundred flowers yesterday and that's way too much work and money to get a frost! Barely dodged a bullet on that one.

Good morning all. 69F, windy and overcast this morning. Forecast for 85F, partly cloudy and continued wind. Working on mowing, getting my schedule nailed down for next week, and bike ride.

Hit 85 degrees today, but very pleasant. Got up at 2am to head to a turkey hunting spot...but the big gobbler got the better of me so I guess I'm the turkey. Did enjoy watching a pair of mourning dove tending their nest in a nearby tree, and having a deer walk by. Sitting still on the ground in camo has its good moments.

Got some good seat time yesterday moving rocks...my wife wanted some from my collection pile to use in some landscaping we are doing...so 2 FEL bucket loads to start.

My wife told me that the fire has burnt over 6 square miles. That is a lot of burnt forest. Hard to believe.
Was supposed to go to 76 here today, I saw 85 and it might have been higher. Ed

Currently 71F @ 21:00 , high today hit 79F.

Spent pretty much the entire day on the tractor ... look kinda like a lobster. First worked on the big compost pile up by the shop, consolidating a couple smaller piles into it. Then installed the rake and worked the area I've been clearing.

After that I lubed the chains on the Simplicity for The Woman so she could pick up sticks and branches and mow around the house. Then I put on the forks and put the snowblower away and pulled the MMM out of the barn and changed the oil in the gearbox and spent the rest of the day mowing the front.

We got it all done ... first mowing of the season.

Now I've got to go put the loader back on and go put the tractor away.

The sun came out and the temperature rose to 90˚. Today was the 1000 hour day. While I was smoothing the sand drive on the hill after the rains my tractor hit the 1000 hour mark. Time for another 50hr. oil change.

40 right now...high of 42 and 3-5 inches of snow. Well, we can use some precipitation to reduce the threat of brush fires...

I'm not really expecting any snow accumulation...too warm.

Good morning. Weather may be a little kinder today, with that searching artic wind not chilling us at quite the same speed as yesterday.

The rest of the oak for the raised beds came, now any spare time I have is going to be spent hand cutting these with a panel saw, then fastening them together. My wife may want to keep on gardening long after I am gone, so I'm going to try and do it right and only use stainless fixings. I put together one small bed a few weeks back by making 4 corner brackets out of stainless steel ( a good excuse to play at welding ), with threaded rod clamping them together. Original plan was to counter bore to hide the external nuts below the surface and plug level with dowel, then my wife said she quite liked the contemporary contrast of stainless against silvered oak, so that's how they will be.

When I looked at buying more steel for the rest, I got a surprise at how expensive it is and decided instead to use blocks of 3" x 3" Iroko hardwood for the rest. Drilled the first 4 of these last night.
