Good morning. No rain today, it's an almost perfect day with little wind and a clear blue sky. So there I was, keen to get back outside, when I had my plans almost scuppered by catching up on TBN...

In the same way that yawns are contagious, hearing Ed and the rest of you contemplating taking a nap has my eyelids drooping, yet it's far too early in the day for me to be putting my feet up. This pre-meditated, sleep inducing talk is plain cruel to those of us that need to get on with things. Just use a little consideration and think what you are doing to other people next time :).
Only kidding, I enjoy a nap along with everyone else, in fact if they made it an Olympic sport I reckon I could be in with a chance of qualifying for the GB team, although I doubt if I would collect any medals - unlike Ed who seems to be in training for a gold.
.

The only problem is... The best laid plans of mice and men. Well I will get one some day. I have been going to bed around 10:30 or 11:00 and getting up around 4:30 to 5:00. It is only 7:30 and I am already thinking I need a nap but, we will see what happens. Ed

bike ride (topped 1000 miles)

Mostly, you must be in amazing shape.
Were you back by lunch?
Favorite things you see on your ride?

1000 miles sounds like RNG H bent for leather heading home...

Good morning all, Hope your day goes great.
Roy, Hope your cold moves out today. Praying.
Eric, Go take a nap!
Buckeye, Praying you have the wisdom to choose the best job for you.

30 here this morning going to 47. Nice and sunny this AM.
Hoping to go to another furniture shopping again today, and of course I hope to get a nap as well. Need to start packing the shop. Not looking forward to that at all. Nap is looking better all the time. Ed

Drank both cups of coffee before being able to get on line today. 69° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 90° with mostly sunny skies. Going to do a few miles bike ride this morning. Then back to packing up our stuff.
Good Morning All.

Ed, I'm with you on that nap. Just mowed and trimmed a friend's property and then came back and weedwacked for hours, got the orchard done and most of the white fencing. The Echo trimmer does a good job.

I now have three pieces of equipment down, so tomorrow will be a repair day. One cheap little push mower whose 39 dollar Briggs engine would not start the second year. Time for a new plug and SeaFoam. Then the push string trimmer is tied up in barb wire and the Ariens mower threw a drive belt for the third time today. Something is wrong with the design on that mower, I've never had a problem with drive belts. Seems to be inadequate tension on the belt. I'll take it apart and see what its unhappiness is. Maybe tomorrow afternoon, supposed to be very cold tonight and tomorrow morning.

I believe I have earned my hot shower and nap. Ed, you too!

Good morning! 79˚ clear skies, will we hit 90˚ today? TBN timing out a lot this morning.

Primer coat is on the CG and starting the final coat today.

My Dad asked me how I was going to get the cement beams in place, I told him I have it all figured out. If it will work is the question. Shooting for a Friday install.

Yesterday I mowed my 1.5 acres in 73° weather, woke up to an inch of snow this morning. Most is gone now, thankfully.

To cold and windy so no work today maybe a nap?

It was still daylight when I got to Reno, Drew, and while I know of a nice motel or two in the area, after being away for so long it was just easier to keep going. I've done 900+ on a motorcycle in one day, but it's far easier in a truck. Just not as much fun. Except in the snow I guess a truck is a LOT more fun!

31F and sunny @ 10:00 ...

Site seems plagued with 502/504 errors this morning ... which is pretty frustrating, as it's become part of the daily "ritual" ... just like my morning constitutional ...

Already ran to Harbor Freight and picked up a bandsaw blade and a five-pak of 4 1/2" cutoff discs, shop temp is closing in on 70F, up from 46F this morning when I fired up the double barrel stove.

Back to grapple-o-rama ...

33 earlier this morning, now 41 and may top out at 49...windy...26 predicted tonight.

Roy, get well soon!

Drew, I'm in repair mode, too...Deere riding mower steering went out yesterday right before the rain hit...will try to diagnose this afternoon, unless I take a nap :).

Good Morning! 68F @ 10:15AM. Sunny. High 83F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph.

Like many of you, TBN has been AWOL for most of the morning.

Not trying to rub it in, but we've had very fine weather here the last few days, which my time in Ohio and the snow in the Rockies lets me appreciate all the more. But all the rain has let the mosquitos get a head start, and pleasant evenings around the campfire now require a dose of repellant. Today promises to be breezy enough to keep them at bay, but that puts the k-bosh on using the fire ring.

Made the trip into town where I ran a few errands before dropping the truck off for repair. The man behind the counter wasn't having much luck finding a kit to get hydraulic ports plumbed into the port forward setup on the Kubota, so I left my number and am hoping for a call back sometime today. Did a little grocery shopping, and just managed to stuff it all into the little backpack for the trip home on the Yamaha. I noticed that the new phone was sitting at the FedEx delivery center in town, so I called and made arrangements to pick it up. But when I got there the clerk rolled her eyes at me and said it was still on a truck somewhere and she'd need help to find it. And could I come back in a little while? So I went down the street to the mechanic's, who had no trouble hearing the noise coming from the front of the engine. Hopefully I'll get a call today with a diagnosis. While there we talked about building up a 4WD Vanagon camper, something I've been considering for a while now. Compared to a new Sprinter, the price is reasonable, especially considering that the brakes, drive line, and suspension will all be either new or rebuilt. And the engine and transmission will be from Subaru, a highly regarded improvement over the VW originals. By the time that conversation wound down the FedEx lady had called back to say they found the package, so I left it with providing an estimate as the next step. Picked up the package, but because it wouldn't fit in the backpack, used a ratchet strap to fix it to the bike's rack. Used a little too much force, and the box ended up looking like a sausage in the middle, but since the phone was rattling around inside it to begin with, no damage was done. On the way home I was reminded that the carburation never really got dialed in on that bike, and being only a 225 cc, it wasn't at all happy at the full throttle setting needed to do 55+ MPH. Feels like it's running too rich, so later today I'll hook up the exhaust gas analyzer and see for sure.

Called my new friend Robert at Verizon this morning and got the phone activated, but am only getting two bars @ 1x and no 4G inside or outside the house, in spite of Verizon's claims to the contrary. So much for my hopes of getting rid of satellite Internet...

Good afternoon, could only now get through the Bad Gateway.

The driveway guy never came back yesterday. So I called and asked if he was coming back he said no. Huh? It was cold yesterday and will be today so I told him to wait till the weather gets better. No reason to freeze moving gravel around, I am in no hurry.

Fire in the fireplace yesterday evening. 30 now with sun but calling for cold and wet weather for the next week so I am going to lunch with Raj today and put a pot roast in the crocpot
Have a gooden.

Never spent the night in Reno, but I have deposited a good bit of $$$ there! Use to stay over at South Lake Tahoe, after a night in the casinos. Got comped free tickets to see Sonny and Cher, free dinner and $50 in chips once, in the early 70's, at Harrah's I believe.

Finding a carrier that will work in all areas is a problem. At my place do not bring your Verizon, Sprint or T Mobile if you want good service. AT&T is the way to go. My sons place north of us works well on Verizon. AT&T is iffy. I have a Wilson signal booster that works well in 1 bar locations. Moves signal to 3 or 4 bars. Good place to shop for these items is 3G store.

Good afternoon guys. Couldn't get on this morning and am just sitting down for today. 34 this morning and made it to 63 today. Currently 60.

Guy that was hauling liter yesterday was back today. He asked this morning if I knew anybody who wanted any. Try not to haul it 40 miles back home. Found a neighbor with a 4 mile round trip haul. So he's hauling to him.

I took 4 wheeler to the repair shop as the ignition box was out of it and replaced it. But when I got back home it won't start to get off the trailer. I'll push it back and deal with it later. All trays are washed and so are shutters.

Off to go move a tractor and I'll be done for the day. Hopefully. Well I'll have to feed cows when I get back home. But that'll be a day.

Drew. Barb wire likes anything it can snag. Best thing is a pair of double leather palm gloves. Lay them out in the sun or run through the washer and dryer. Get that leather dried out. I know it's stiff but that's what you want with barbed wire. New soft leather just cuts too easy.

   / Good morning!!!! #44,378
Farmer, thank you. I'm going to try a pair of kevlar gloves tomorrow, no double palm ones. But I'll get a pair next time I'm at TSC.
Then I'll be a real cowboy. Not. ;)

RNG, you are making the powerplant too complicated. A nice small block crate motor, tame, 300hp/400 torque down low. Pick a brand
but I'd sure start with a GM...couldn't be too hard to get that in that Vanagon, up front where it belongs.
So what if it sits up a bit between you two.
You could build a small table on top...
Oh, and add a couple of electric motors and get a grant to pay for it all.

For the first time ever I have managed to grow an amaryllis outdoors, three in fact seem to be blooming out of about ten plants i had collected over a dozen years.
All those years of watering those droopy green leaves and they produced nothing. So they got tough love, and planted outside in a sheltered spot, and ta da
they seem to be doing ok. Not sure what 30 degrees is going to do to this plant though. Nothing good...
