Oil & Fuel To use additives or not?

/ To use additives or not? #21
For what it is worth: My dealer's service manager had a discussion with the regional Mahindra rep and they suggested that all of the Tier IV models use an additive. My dealer gave me the first bottle of Power Service and told me to follow the suggestions on the bottle year round. So that is what I'm dong.

That's good to know. I have it covered. Now if only the tractor would get here I have the stuff for it.

Would that dealer be Burnips? I just bought a Max 26XL with MMM, BH, and FEL from them. so far it has been a very good experience. So I guess I should be putting that stuff in my tank?

Great info on the additives. I have tried a few different ones, everyone says theirs are the best. Has anyone tried Lucas? According to the fuel supplier I talked to which happened to be BP. Said it is not needed for lubrication. Not sure if I agree. I don't use the off road fuel as its not really any cheaper where I am. I was told it was all the same just dyed nowadays. I don't use enough fuel to make saving a few cents per gallon that big of a deal. I'm not opposed to using a fuel additives but it may be years before you know if it really helped if ever. It's really not about the money it more about the benefits. Could any chemist chime in and shed some light on this?

People who add potions, lotions and elixirs to equipment. They tend to be the superstitious type of people that also believe in signs, omens, good luck charms , black cats, ladders, vitamins, copper and magnetic wrist bands etc.

Read some of the linked test,- did I read it correctly - #1 was by just adding some soy bio-diesel??

1) 2% REG SoyPower biodiesel
HFRR 221, 415 micron improvement.
50:1 ratio of baseline fuel to 100% biodiesel
66.56 oz. of 100% biodiesel per 26 gallons of diesel fuel
Price: market value

If so- wish we had a bio diesel station close...

Well a little search shows that one of the local diesel providers -Is gearing up to sell bio-diesel by the end of summer.

We have started to use lucas this winter in our 7.3. Get it from tractor supply but lucky if it is in Stock usually buy the last bottle. Truck wouldn't start cause of fuel gelled. Put it in and in less then 5 min the truck fired right up. It even helped quiet the injectors right down
