Please let us know how you and the new machine get on.
Seems like a ROPS will only save you if your wearing a seatbelt- otherwise, you takes your chances!
Certainly, the best chances are with the ROPS up, and wearing a seatbelt. Still, ROPS up and no seatbelt offers a better chance than the ROPS folded...there's at least an open space left that you might wind up in.
Yep. I don't wear a seat belt.
Did you get a Mahindra? Leak is likely from a Banjo bolt/crush washer. Keep us updated.So. I was able to put some hours on the tractor... Yes. I did put the ROPS up and put my seatbelt on. Here are my thoughts:
1) I'm very glad I followed everyone's advice on size. Smaller might have meant slightly easier to maneuver, but I really benefitted from the wider stance and heavier weight.
2) the station is pretty well laid out for me. I know where everything is basically without looking already. The only part I don't like is the tilt steering adjustment foot pedal. I hit it accidentally a couple times.
3) I love the grapple.
4) I really need to fill the rear tires. Might also go w Ag tires on the rear.
5) HST is so very nice for the clearing I was doing with the grapple.
6) easy to drive and great visibility.
Things I learned/missed/need to figure out:
1) I need to get better with the FEL hydraulics. I often get the bucket dump versus curl backwards. I also rested my hand on the joystick once while backing up and turned around to the bucket being up all the way. Whoops lesson learned. I'm sure I'll get this with more seat time.
2) the brakes need some work I think. They are somewhat mushy and occasionally seemed less effective than I thought they should be on hills.
3) after having it in the barn for a week we noticed a small amount of fluid under where it sat (didn't notice until I went to put it back in the barn). So I will have to figure it out. I am guessing transmission or perhaps brake fluid? Seemed to be clear in color typical oil-like consistency. Maybe this explains #2. I will look at this before moving tractor next.
4) need a couple retaining clips for pins on the grapple.
Overall, I'm very happy with it. It is going to serve me well I think.
