Looked at Harbor's website, found out there's one close to where I work that I knew nothing about...called them...seem to have everything in stock, headed there after work to purchase...thanks again everyone.

Check the web for a 20 or 25% discount coupon!! It'll help for the most expensive item.

ebay and amazon have good prices on chains and binders. much better than i found in my local lowes, tractor supply, and local hardware store.

That is going to be a load on your truck. If it is diesel it might handle it, but that load would bring my gas F-350 to its knees. I wouldn't trust mine and other people's life to anything from harbor freight.

It didn't even kick out of 6th gear with the cruise set at 66 climbing a pretty big hill on I-65 south...of course it's diesel...gas model isn't equipped to haul 16,000 lbs.

If I knew I was going this heavy on the tractor, I would have at least got a 350 DRW, but my dream truck which I hope to have when I retire in 7 years is a 450...then no worries for sure.

I don't like those style of straps but prefer the more rare ones with a length of chain and grab hook on the end. They loop nicely down and up through a pocket.

Funny how picky the authorities are about chain and straps but have no concern about what the chain is attached to.

I wouldn't often need to padlock them, but would like to be able to put a pin in them. Would be using them with 5/16 so the rating seems good.

Couldn't you take any binder and put a hole through it then put a pin in it

I'm about to purchase a tractor that's going to weigh between 10k-12k... My biggest fear is making sure I get this tied down properly. My farm is about 60 miles from my house... Plan on making this trip about 8-12 times a year hauling the tractor.
Anyone have some advice they'd like to share, examples of what not to do? Pics would be great.
It will have loader and cutter... I'm guessing I can get away with 4 chains and a couple-few straps?
I'm sure I'll overdo it the first few times, but would love to hear where I can buy the best chains and binders.
Does Harbor Freight offer ones that are reliable?
Home Depot or Lowe's?
Should I look at places that sell trailers? Tractor dealers sell them?
Appreciate any and all advice.
The tractor will be delivered soon and I'm hoping I can see how it was tied down upon delivery and take pictures and learn from that as well.
