Good morning!!!!

69F and sunny @ 09:30 ... headed up to a high of 81F ... extended forecast says pretty nice for the next five days or so, mostly sunny with highs in the upper 70's to low 80's ... with some clouds and a slight possibility of a shower on Thursday.

The woman and I got 4 oak trees and another clump of pampas grass transplanted yesterday. The oaks ranged in height from 6' up to around 10' or so. Would have posted pics, but the TBN file uploader doesn't seem to be working. Woman was disappointed that she didn't have more days off, as we were on a roll by the time we finished up last night.

Be interesting to see if they make it or not ... considering that it's August. Hopefully, if I keep the soil moist, they'll survive. None of them appeared to have tap roots, but the root balls I did manage get ranged from 3' to a little over 5' wide.

I still have probably half a dozen larger oak specimens (6' or better) and quite a few smaller ones, including one that I dug up last fall when we planted the TSC bargain basement ornamentals that's just been sitting in it's clump of dirt, next to the compost pile ... can't believe that thing survived this long.

Might have to try watering before I dig on the next ones ... soil was pretty dry yesterday, which probably made it harder than it would have otherwise been.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable and productive day.

Good Morning. 0940, partly cloudy, 86F {101 HI} with 83% humidity. Forecast high of 91F with 50% chance of rain today, and a low of 76F tonight. I ran all the soaker hoses and sprinklers while I was working in the garden yesterday, then we had a good shower in the evening. Other than picking cucumbers and peppers, there isn't much to be done there today. My cousin went down to the pond fishing yesterday. That got me to thinking. Maybe I'll go drowned a few bread balls {I don't have any worms and don't feel like running to town]. The grass will still be here tomorrow, right?

Roy, tough news about the toe. Hope they can get the blood flow increased.

You guys have a good one,

Larro

Roy,

Hope you get the issues with your toe/feet sorted out - have similar issues myself (PAD)

Like Don said, maybe they can do a stent and solve it that way.

[Sorry, you will just have to use your imagination here - I was going to show you a picture from inside the Iseki's cab, with rain streaming down the cab windows, but tbn is not letting me upload pictures :confused3: ]

I've had trouble with my "What's for Supper?????" and "How does your Garden Grow???" pictures as well. But if you will post the picture to a photo sharing site {I use Face Book}, then copy and paste image url, it will work that way.

Blooms on my 2nd planting of Crimson Sweets.

I plowed the 3rd planting of purple hulls yesterday, then made it rain.

As usual, RS, yer makin' the rest of us look bad. Slow down a little so we can catch up, OK? ;)
LOL ... if you listen to The Woman, she'll tell ya that's the last thing I need to do ...

The latest batch of POR-15 Metal Prep came in a squirt bottle, and seems pretty aggressive on ferrous metal. At least it foams a bit, but doesn't sting when it gets on my skin. ... Squirt bottles can be found in the cleaning supply section of your local Home Depot.
Good to know, as I have a lot to do.

I think I have a couple of unopened gallons of POR Prep N' Ready and Marine Clean (that came with squirt bottles :D) that the kid left me up in the shop. Hafta check.

Anyway, the squirt bottle might be a nice middle ground way to apply that Muratic acid, as long as you stand up wind in any breeze. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to use safety glasses and Nitril golves, too, but I think a respirator would be over-the-top.
That's an idea ... but like I said I really don't want to do anything to atomize it further.

I get an occasional whiff of the fumes (nasty) even with the brush, but so far I've managed to avoid breathing it to any significant degree.

Squirt bottles could be good for the less nasty stuff though.

worked on cleaning up my brush cutting mess from yesterday, helper noshowed, so I did an entire trailer load myself. Several more to go, then the front of the property facing the main road will have had its woods nicely cleaned out, well, at least up front by the main ditch. Have no desire for those two acres of woods buffering my home from the road to be too well cleared out; does a nice job currently providing privacy and noise buffering.

Worked for two hours and got really overheated, said that's enough, and put the 14' trailer back by the burn pit for my helper to offload, whenever he shows up. Then I mowed for two more hours and that's all she wrote. Four or five hours in this summer heat is my limit. Was talking to my neighbor who just traded in his 2 series JD for a JD zero turn, said he cut an hour off his mowing time, and as we were talking it got dark, thunder boomed and I took off for home in the golf cart pedal to the metal. I do not like being outside during lightning...
It poured for about five minutes then has done nothing since but more showers to come. We are dry here so you bet, bring it on. Slowly please.

Larro, you really are a good gardener.

I had to chuckle at RS's chemical hazards. Here he is, and we are, all trying not to poison ourselves and be safe with toxic nasty stuff, and my neighbor told me the most likely cause of the bad accident on our street last week was a carload of folks chuffing aerosol paint. Talk about stupid.

69°F and 1.17 inches rain last 24 hours, 100.18 YTD
See some blue sky peeking thru.

Sears coming today, hopefully can determine why and fix the refrigerator puddling on the floor daily.

Be safe
Have a great day

Roy, best of luck with your toe.
A good friend, also diabetic, just went through about 6 month ordeal saving his. Started with an infection and the Dr told him several times he'd likely lose it. He didn't.

The POR-15 seem to be changing the names of some of their potions lately, and I think Marine Clean, Prep'N'Ready, and Metal Prep are all the same stuff. Don't think I'd try mixin' 'em in the same bottle, but I wouldn't hesitate to use one after the other on the same part.

Seems like I spend at least some time holding my breath when doing prep and paint, though if it gets bad I'll dig out the respirator. Maybe next time I'll set up box fan to blow the fumes off to the side...

Had a couple of losers that would sneak into the Jr. High woodshop paint booth and sniff lacquer thinner. Needless to say they graduated near the bottom of their class, if they graduated at all. Life must really suck if it gets better after huffing paint or glue:thumbdown:
