iMatch/Quick Hitch Questions

Eric, thanks for the response. At this point I think I'm going to load it up and take it back to the dealer and tell them to use whatever air gun they put it together with and loosen everything. The nuts for adjusting the height of the tail wheel are so tight that you can't even adjust the height of the cut. You sure as heck don't want your mower to come apart in the field but this is ridiculous.

If I recall right, every fastener is a 15/16th locking style that has a lot of drag torque.

Before you load up the cutter, make sure you can loosen the bolts and nuts to adjust the trailing wheel as you may want to change the rear ride height.

They are 15/16 with a lock nut that I haven't seen before. Working on it this afternoon I got one nut loose that adjust the rear wheel. Is there a trick to loosening this locking style nut? I don't think that the masts are aligned with one another and I still want to move the attachment point down to the third hole instead of just relying on a 5/8" hitch pin that doesn't ride well in the bottom of the big (by comparison) top hook of the Cat 1 imatch.

My technique is being a Swede, and younger too. 😀

The staked nuts are a PITA to do by hand but I did it with a pair of combination wrenches. At 46 years old, age may be on my side.

For what it is worth, I did take a picture of my CAT2 quick hitch set-up today.

You have your top link where mine needs to go. Right now it is in the hole above and I am "making do with a 5/8" hitch pin. Are your lower bushings "pinned". I assume they are Cat2 to Cat3 bushings? I had a box end wrench on with a piece of 4ft 2" steel pipe as a cheater and the only movement I got was feeling the box end wrench start to bend.

One of my wrenches was a snap-on, while the other was a Northern tool. I wedged one wrench against the deck and leaned on the other wrench to break stuff loose.

My lower bushings are cat 2 to cat 3 but are not pinned.
