You could assemble with silicon? You have to take the water pump off to put the belt on??? I think you needs to find what adjusts and loosen that...usually the alternator.

Think about it you should not have to remove the water pump to replace a belt!

I hope this fixes your problems!!!

No, not the pump - the radiator fan mount

No, I was trying not to loosen or remove anything that didn't absolutely have to come off, because I wasn't sure how much of a hassle it was going to be to retension the belt correctly. It wasn't a big deal - took about five minute to pull the fan mounting hub thing off, slip the belt onto it, and then lever it back onto the hub.

I can't run it until I get the replacement gasket. Probably going to be the middle of next week. Believe me, I am as anxious as you are to get this thing running and get it out of my barn.

If you are pumping to 15 psi you are causing your own leaks. An intact used tstst gasket should not leak.

I never got close to 15 psi after installing the new pump. It leaked after one pump of the handle.

Something wrong there other than the gasket. A used, intact gasket should not squirt under moderate pressure, mild seepage at worst.
Make sure the bolt holes are not filled with debris, causing the bolts to bottom out before seating the housing. Happened to me once on an old car.
Also, some waterpump bolts go through to the water jacket and will leak if you do not use pipe thread sealant.

Would not surprise me in the least, considering the way the rest of this project has gone. As near as I could tell, the water was ONLY coming out where the radiator hose connects to the top of the water pump (thermostat area), but frankly there was so much water that I really couldn't tell if it was coming out in other places, too. I should have the new gasket in a day or two, and it won't take long to install and test again.

While we're on the subject - what's the proper psi to pump the test kit up to?
