Question about HST "transmission"

/ Question about HST "transmission" #21
Depressing the fwd or rev pedal is a common thing to do to make the gears mesh or line up in the transmission part that is behind the hydrostatic motor. Just do it gently and barely touch a pedal. All you are doing is rotating the gear on the hydro motor shaft a little. You can feel the gear teeth in the vibration of the shifter.

Our B2410 *had* a "shock" on the HST pedal that helped center the pedal in the "N" position. Since it broke we have needed to rock the HST pedal as described too, so my suggestions would be: 1) assure that the HST pedals move freely and are properly lubricated, 2) inspect the HST pedal "shock" to see if it is functioning (ours got stuck) correctly.

"shock" = Dampener:)

That is a damper so that the pedal returns to center in an even controlled manner (otherwise if it was too abrupt the tractor would "brake", and too slow it would "coast"). It doesn't really center the pedal, just controls the rate of return to center.
