I've been working on some steps, not sure if I like them or not. I think i'll make them bolt-on so I can take them off if I don't like them. I cut the tread-plate with a cut-off wheel. I started working on the frame for them, but ran out of shielding gas.

If you decide to leave those steps on, I'd recommend clipping those rear corners off at a 45* angle - I know what MY shins would look like the first time I walked from the rear of the trailer forward carrying anything ...Steve

Very nice looking trailer there Buggyman1. I don't think you will like the steps or at least your shins won't. Other then that great job!!

Thanks, i'm still not sure on the steps. I'm still gonna go ahead and make them just to see how they'll look.

I think you're right.

I like the step idea, .....at the front corners of the trailer where you could brace yourself via your hand on the trailer "head rack". I would weld steel pipe around the bottom perimeter or better top, to prevent the step from cutting you, and to secure a muddy boot from slipping off the step.

Trailer looks great so far!

How about a drop leg that inserts into the rear receiver hitch?

I was thinking that would work, only problem is, if I had to winch something on the trailer I couldn't use the guide roller.

I like the steps,I think I'd build them into the front of the fenders,to stiffen the fender, and provide a brace in the event you ever catch something the step will help push it out and around the tires instead of it ripping the fender off..this trailer looks amazing, excellent work, and you can't buy them like this as you said it's a labor of love.

Thank you very much. I may use your idea on the fender brace when I get the fenders on.

I got some more shielding gas, been working on the frame for the steps tonight. I took everyone's advice and cut a 45 on the shin getter. Problem is it created some fun angles to cut. Here's the frame welded-up.

Tread-plate welded to the frame. Next time i'll make the frame, "then" cut the tread to fit. I welded the tread from the bottom to get a clean look. Problem# 2, not sure which way to turn them now! I kinda like the look (both ways), I think after the game i'll finish them up and weld them on.

If you used a side crank jack, the roller assembly could rest above the jack - a combination roller guide / jack the fits into the receiver hitch.

Love the trailer, you have mad skills!!

I got both steps done last night, just too tired to post any pics. After a lot of thought, I decided to turn them around. I liked them so well, I went ahead and welded them on.

A few more pics. I'm really happy with how they turned out. I'm going to put a small running light on the outside edge and call them done.

Nice job, everything you do is so nicely finished, mass produced trailers are usually thrown together so quickly ,it's nice to see the thoughts of the end user get transformed into the final build of the trailer...I sometimes wonder if the people, who designed trailers ever actually used them ,if they did they would build them a little differently.
