43F and cloudy @ 18:00 ... rain in the area ...

Just got the fire rollin' in the wood stove here at the house.

Had freezing rain this morning ... hopped in the van to come down to the house around 10:30 and the only direction she would go was backwards (downhill) ... the tires just spun trying to go forward ... made it to the bottom in reverse and that was all she wrote. Left it at the bottom and walked the rest of the way to the house. Then had a bowl of the wife's beef barely vegetable soup and promptly fell asleep on the couch ...

HVAC guy called his morning ... closest place that had the gas valve was Cincinnati ... should be here by Tuesday, assuming UPS is on schedule. Fortunately it isn't going to be all that cold.

barely veggie soup, I'll bet that's heavy on the beef. Couldn't have possibly meant to type barley. This guy never makes a typo.

oh the psychic trauma inflicted on those poor vegetables, knowing they are so inadequate to have just barely made it.

now if they weren't swimming in their meds, those poor onions just might collapse into their last peels, feeling so inadequate.
I believe your vegetables should seek help immediately. You just have to get off that couch you spend three quarters of your life on and help
those poor things. They are so needy, so barely alive.

I've been on the bottom before in other types of situations. Drew, I'm surprised you know about moshing. Haven't ever participated myself, but have seen it before. Careless youth on mind altering substances.

Patio heaters work pretty good, a neighbor has 2, they burn up some propane, but they also get rid of some bugs!!!

As far as Kubota flame throwers, I've seen hydraulic hoses fail at work, @ 3000psi, the fluid reservoir empties in a few seconds! Very Messy. We had a 2 inch hose break once, it shot a few gallons of oil right into a HP printer I was working on. The printer didn't survive....

well my idea was about piling on, but yeah, mosh pits are/were usually for those clearly pushing the limits and some out
of control. I guess that's what they want, being out of control. Only read about them, not much of a rock band concert goer.

just saw the forecast for my brother's place in VA where I am headed next Wednesday. Snow. One to four inches.
That could make for interesting driving, though I'm on major roads and rte 95 much of the way.

Sseelhoff good to see you bouncing back. Having rode many Texas miles in the past training for triathlons I know to survive biking one has to take defensive driving to a new level - right near paranoia.

Just got back from Dad's and got all his kitchen lights working without changing fixtures again. Thanks for the advice here about the T-8 and T-11 florescent bulbs which cannot work in each others fixture even though they fit. We just put some T-8 (smaller diameter florescent bulbs) in the new fixture that I installed last week and they are now working. These same T-8s in the other older fixtures will light up but flicker. Now I just have to find the right warm/cool light t-8s to match the other kitchen's (kitchen/warm) T-11s.

This evening it is a comfortable 66˚ and we have had almost 3" of rain in the last 30 hours.:cool2:

It's 61F with rain. Has rained most of the afternoon, but only .7" so far. Could be some heavier stuff tonight.

Drew, the best way to fight a grass fire is with a wet pine top. I cut at least two and put them on opposite sides of the brushpile in five gallon buckets of water. I also burn a ring of grass out to about 10-12 feet. With a hot fire, it is hard to keep the grass nearby wet enough not to burn. Taking the fuel away is the safest thing.

I don't try to ride my mountain bike on the roads around here. Some locals, especially those with big trucks, will harass you. There seems to be a inverse correlation between how high the truck is lifted, and driver IQ.

I think that is the case everywhere. I have also heard people say they are trying to compensate for other "shortcomings".
