MX5100 Rear Remote Float Valve

To be honest, I think one float valve would be plenty enough for me and I probably would live if I couldn't get a float valve installed. I could definitely use the float on the top link. Other than that, just being able to make adjustments without having to get off this big tractor every time is plenty good for me.

I would, if I could, have the float valve in the first or third position, instead of the second, just for ease of identifying the float lever. Looks like for now I will have to settle for the 2nd float valve position.

The rest of the questioning is for my curiosity. Relatively new to hydraulics and was wondering why a particular valve setup allows for 1 float like the L8303, L8304; vs an all float valve setup with the L8309 valves. Is it the way the valves were ported or is it because the machine can't handle it? Things like that.

I figure if I can fix multi-million dollar helicopters for the Marines, I surely can figure out why Kubota only allows for one float valve in the second position only in the MX5100.

Note: I just installed three Kubota OEM remotes for the my MX5100, with the second valve being the only one that has the float function...like the way they said to install the kit. Waiting for the supplier to send correct lines to install the TnT kit. The install was easy and straight forward, especially for an open cab setup.

So when I read what MtViewRanch and other members say about float valves, I have to ask why. Heck, there is a whole thread about what have bought because of TBN. :D

Thanks for the knowledge, that will hopefully become wisdom.

It all depends in what you are doing with the tractor. I don't have any use for a float on the toplink. Others may need to be able to float the toplink. You can always switch the lines around if you need to float what your side link or toplink, how ever you plan on hooking it up.

I'm curious what tasks would you be performing with your tractor to utilize the "float function on a hyd center link"?
Thanks,Jim

Pond banks when mowing. The mower swivels do not allow for the mower to move enough to follow the steepness of the banks that some people have.

As far as grading, the side link when smoothing roads at intersections where the camber of the road changes as you go around the corner, you want the implement to follow the road, not the tractor. When raking a field and you want to clean the field, not level it. When plowing or blowing snow off of a hard surface.

Those are just a few. ;)

The quality rotary mowers that I sold back when I was employed at a JD dealer had center link attachments to allow tail wheel to rise and fall below level without the need for a floating hyd center link. Your sales pitch about the need for a hyd cylinder for side link was not in my original question to TractorBob1529 as I inquired about need for float on a hyd centerlink.
Thank you,Jim

I was not trying to sell anything.:confused3: Simply responding to post #21 about his question of "why". I suppose that I should have double quoted, sorry. :sorry: I have many customers that have the swivel center link on their mowers that simply does not allow the mower to move far enough from level to mow their pond banks just as I mentioned the first time. I have no idea if those mowers are cheap junk or high dollar units, I only know what they want, need, ask for. ;)

I think if a pond bank is that steep I'd find a different method of mowing it than a 3 pt rotary mower with a floating center link cyl. I guess my crystal ball was dusty as I didn't see the correlation of side link involved in the question I asked about the use of float on center link. Oh well that's why these are called "discussion forums".

They did replied back that the new MX5200 can have up to two float valve with it's new kit and valve setup. That same setup can be used on the MX5100, but the valves are not interchangeable from old to new, they say. I don't see me spending money to revamp a system I already have.

Do you have any more information on the new kit as my dealer can't seem to locate anything about it.

MacDeamon, I don't remember what the specific parts numbers were that for the valves and lever kits and I deleted that e-mail from Kubota awhile back. I remember it was MX5200 specific part that can go onto the MX5100. I would e-mail Kubota customer support and they are good about getting back with that information. Sorry man.
