Good day all. It's up in the 70's. A very nice fall day. Finished cutting the logs for the post of the storage building today just have to load them up a take them to a buddies place. He has a bandsaw mill. Now to locate some nice populars so I won't have to buy many building materials.

Farmer, great the way you are building with your own wood. How long does it take to dry out before it can be used?

Around here it's said to take a year an inch. I know I will catch heck over this but I'm not waiting. I'm building green.

The post and studs are going to be green. The joist for second floor are going to be salvaged graded lumber. Had a bunch given to me they came out of an old school house. The exterior will be plywood that looks like 8in boards from HD. This is for air tightness and speed. The second floor flooring will be plywood or OSB. The rafters and sheeting for metal roof will be green more than likely. Then the inside will be 1 inch boards ship lapped in green. First floor flooring will be concrete. Will wind up buying some PT or may just use good red cedar boards haven't decided.
I don't have room to dry this lumber and wife doesn't have the patience.

Good evening all. 61F this morning sunny. High today was 76F clouded up this afternoon with scattered drizzle and light rain showers. Pet scan was a pet/mri (noisy style) for amyloid plaque (alzheimer research) and went without a hitch. This afternoon's ride was rained out, but mamaged to replace the front shift cable on the Trek.

69 degrees going up to 85 today. A bit warmer than yesterday and warmest of the week. Night temps are headed for the low sixties; going to be nice.

hvac people coming in this week to replace gaspack unit in my garage. Good time to do it, between seasons, it seems.
I asked for a quote to add a split system to the garage; the hvac unit was reasonable, and about half the quote of insulating the walls in the garage, which I believe are 12 feet tall. Why so tall I have no idea...the ladder to the storage unit must have four sections; there is an enormous floored storage area above the garage, but how to get up that spindly ladder. Much less come down carrying anything. The guy who built/owned this home before was district sales mgr for an elevator company. There is a chair lift to the second floor. I would trade it for an elevator to the garage second floor...

hmmm, maybe this winter someone here can design a dumb waiter for me...small Harbor Freight winch? Would make an interesting project.

hope you all have a pleasant day. In the last two days I've bush hogged the field part of the property; took less than three hours, easy to do. Plus last night it was cooler out and I went out and did some more lawn mowing.
Just to be "out there". And boy was it nice.

Drinking second cup of coffee. 50° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 64° with mostly sunny skies. Lawn is still growing. Need to cut it this afternoon. Collecting all the filters, oil and coolants to do fall maintenance on equipment.
