XR 4040H issue with only 8 hours on it

No owners manual online that I have found but you can download the parts manual here LS X Series
Factory service manual is available from your dealer also. It's pricey but I think its worth it if you do most of your own work.

We noticed the light after we got about 60 foot into a shallow trench and we could find nothing specific in the manual. The first thing it suggested was check the fuel filter but it didnt make sense to me with the RPM cap that was there. Are you talking about the engine warning light on the dash directly under the glow plug light that was flashing? If so, was it flashing by itself or was there also a light (DPF) on the upper right of the dash flashing at the same time?
1) If the light was on or flashing by itself it will need a trip back to the dealer.
2) If the light was on or flashing with the DPF light or lights flashing the soot level is 100-140% and the DPF was regenerating. In this condition the engine is derated to 50% and RPM is limited to 1800 until regeneration is complete. All work with machine must stop until regen is complete. Then engine would return to normal operation and RPM.
What you describe happening sounds like #2 condition which is normal.

Yes, #2 is exactly what it was doing. My brother talked directly to LS Service contact for our area and he said that could be it as well. My brother started it today and let it run for an hour and the red ! light was flashing in the lower left as well as the DPF yellow light on the upper right.

I would think that after 1 hour running that it would have completed? My brother then told the LS rep that it did not fix the flashing lights after it was running an hour and he said turn it off before it shuts itself down and take it to the dealer. Said if it shuts itself off you have no choice but to take it to the dealer to get it running again.

I do not understand why it is not running its course but I do know that when they delivered it new the guy was supposed to go through all of this with us but didn't and even a woman working at the dealer said he should have told you all about that process. So we finished the job we started as we had a few hours of digging left... If we kept going would that have caused damage or no because of the engine was throttled down to protect it? How long can the burn out actually take?

The dealer cannot pick it up until Monday and we lose the entire long weekend to get a lot of important stuff done around here... Just a bummer and I keep wanting to go out and try it again now that I know way more about it... But with my luck it only has a few minutes of run time left before it shuts itself down...

Our XR4046H was delivered Saturday afternoon with 2.7 hours on it. Sunday afternoon we used it for the first time, he hooked it up to our bush hog and started mowing. He mowed maybe a hour worth of mowing tall grass. The tractor just quit!! He shut everything down and tried to restart it...it would start and immediately shut itself off. He checked all the basic stuff, filters etc. Everything was OK. Monday we called the dealer, he came out. There's a flashing red light "engine warning" light on and one exhaust yellow light flashing. Service guy says he has no idea what it is...he loaded it up and took it off. I sure hope this isn't a sign of things to come. This is a very well built, quality machine, for the money it's a great buy..BUT...if it's not running...it's a waste of time and energy. LS needs better quality control and consumer communication.

I have my owner's manuals for the new XR3032H and my implements. I've been trying to read them starting with the owner's manual. Good luck with that part. Someone with very broken English wrote those manuals, and they definitely leave much to be desired. Mind you, I'm not an English major myself, but I'm sure I could have done a much better job of writing than the way my manuals were written.

Sorry to hear you had a problem. LS has been very responsive in the past, at least if you go off the comments here. The XR series are brand new, and there are bound to be some small issues that crop up. It's probably something simple and they'll have it back to you in no time.

BTW, your profile says you have an "XR404HC"....see, nobody's perfect ;-)

The dealer called last night..they found the problem. A wire in the main wiring harness got burnt into when it got up to close to the exhaust. LS put a complete new harness on a plane to the dealer last night, should be in this morning. and the unit back to me by Friday..That is a dam good dealer..but LS needs BETTER QUALITIY control.

It seems that both dealer and LS dealt with the problem as quick as possible. Given that the problem was not with the harness itself but rather an installation of the harness, this would be human error. We all make a mistake here and there, aggravating though they may be, whether at work or home. When we realize what we've done, we fix it. It seems that is what they did.

No person, or company is perfect, and something this small is hardly an issue of poor quality control. The dealer, and company seem to have handled it as professionally as possible. If the same problem was happening on a bunch of machines, or you had multiple problems, things might be different, but that isnt the case....it seems like you're going to be unhappy with them either way.

No your wrong I am very HAPPY with my LS XR4046H..what I hadn't said or put in here were the things that were wrong with the unit when I got it home.

#1 lug bolt front wheel was stuck out sort side ways..took it out its threads were stiripped.replaced the bolt.
# 2 screws holding the inside of the cab roof in place were lose 2 feel out.
# 3 the knob or hadle on top of the shift lever for the HST came apart in my hand..screw missing.

and there were a couple other minor things I still think they need better quality control..

As far as the tractor I LOVE the thing..I have owed different makes and models for over 40 yrs this one I think is 1 of the best I have ever had..time will tell.
