Looking for a boxblade and was wondering if the difference between Landpride's 15 and 25 series was worth the extra money. Box will go on a Kubota L5740 and thinking a 72" width. Three point brackets and end plates are heavier and there is an additional ripper tooth on the 25 series but it only weighs 50# more.
Can get the 15 series for around $250 less because dealer has them in stock, says he sells about the same amount of both.
According to there website the 15 series is only rated up to 40 hp. Will find out Monday when a 25 series will be available.

How about a 35 series.

Weight is your friend.

Look at the tower on the 15 series, it will fold up behind your L5740. I doubt that it would be warranted when you go back to the dealer with a pile of scrap metal. I am sure that Land Pride would not cover the failure.

The 25 series will work for you, but you really need at least the HR2572 in my opinion. That's if you want to get some work done without any issues. Lots of money, but once you went big,(L5740) it isn't cheap anymore.

Your tractor will tear up a 15 series if you use it for any type of "rough" work. I have a 3578 behind my similar sized Kubota and feel that I could easily handle a 3584. I do find the 3578 to be the PERFECT width for my tractor though, it sticks out about 3" on each side. I simply could not recommend anything less than a 35 series, although the 25 should work fine based on other users experience. Now, if you really want to spend some money, go with hydraulic scarifiers :)

The responses so far are what I was expecting, everything I have read on boxblades is the heavier the better, since I have never had one don't know how much I will use one. Will talk to dealer about about the 35 series.

I bought the hrl3578. So glad to have the weight and rigidity and the hydraulic scarifier bar. Well worth it. For me the width is perfect.

I sometimes think I'd like it taller, but the taller LP does not come in this width.

Only complaint is that the scarifier teeth showed wear and lost a tip within the first hours.

Top n tilt is great with it, ,esp top.

Pretty much what everyone else said. I used and still own a BB2584 on my L5030 HSTC then L5740HSTC and it worked OK, but not well. I've added weight to it which helped, but still wasn't satisfied with it; we do a lot of dirt work.

I finally decided to just bite the bullet, spend the money and get a really good one and bought the HR3584. We've been very happy with it. I use it on my GL and our M8540 so I skipped the HRL3578 which will work great on the 5740. I was a bit concerned the HR3584 might be a bit much for the GL, but no problems. The price sure hurts initially, but was well worth it for us. We have two rear remotes on the 8540 nd three on the GL.

Like Brian, I wouldn't go less than a HR2572 for the tractor size you have.

Here is a good video on the HR2572 and GL.

A 25 series will give you good service for a few years.

A 35 series will give you good service for the rest of your life.

It's your choice.

Murph's 35 series as well as my 35 series are very old blades and still function perfectly with no distortion. Yesterday I use my TnT to lower the right corner of mine and hook it under an 8" cedar stump and pull it out of hard clay with my M9540. Probably would have twisted a 25 series doing that.

Post some pics when you make the purchase. You are going to enjoy having this attachment.

I think the same thing sometimes! I would like the tall version if they made it, but honestly, I don't think I've ever had material spill over the back now that I think of it. Do you have "overflow" problems with the low design? I do really like the width for our size tractors.

Yes there are time when I overflow the box, esp in the front. Esp when pulling up roots, etc (more than just grading). I use it for some fairly serious ground shaping.

But it's not a real problem and I would not want it any wider (or narrower) with my tractor so the taller one is out for me because of the extra width. Crazy expensive but worth it to me.

And now I'm probably going to by a LP rear angle blade with hydraulic angle although I won't have as much use for it after a couple years. I considered buying a EA blade, but based on my experience with their rake I am willing to pay more to have a better quality. For example with EA theirs and mine concept on how well things need to fit into holes is very different. I have a few specifics in mind on my rake, including how much slop there is in the hole for the rear gauge wheel posts. Very disappointing to see those wheel assemblies rocking back and forth as I drive. I've spent hours screwing with my rake, but with my BB I just drag dirt.

(Sometimes I wonder if all these laser cut holes to go fast and cheap is a real advancement over simply drilling/machining holes to fit the bolt/shaft perfectly.)

Bottom line is I am very happy with my hrl3578 and would do it again in a heartbeat.
