I bought a used Kioti and took it to the Kioti Dealer in Ocala Florida and they treated me as well as if I had bought it from them. I sold it and bought a used Kubota and the Ocala Florida Kubota dealer couldnt be nicer than if I bought a brand new tractor from them. If someone treated me like you say they treated you, I would tell the owner and or never go back there.

How old is the hydro fluid in your tractor? Is it synthetic? If it's got a few years on it I would think about an oil change. If it's not synthetic (usually gear tractors are not) then I bet synthetic would help quite a bit.

This is exactly why your company is high on my list. I am currently in the market for a machine and the way my friends and associates have been treated is a big factor in who I may or may not do business with.

1. Where did we go wrong as a country when we stopped treating the customer walking in the door with the same reverence as the last couple of dollars in our pockets?
2. Walk into a Deere or Kubota dealer and you're lucky if they look up from the newspaper they're reading and grunt; "Yeah, what do you want?"
and give you a; "Can't you see I'm busy here?" , sneer
.

1. I agree, this tends to be very common whether you are going out to dinner or at the grocery store.
2. Categorically UNTRUE. My JD and Kubota dealers treat me like I own the place.

Wow, jumping from dealers running their business as they see fit, to blaming the country.

And condemning all Deere and Kubota dealers.

It's amazing how many of us have felt that sting of feeling like we're step children at the family reunion when we walk into dealerships these days.
I have not.

To state the obvious, discussion forums like TBN are where more people come to complain, than to praise, and to draw conclusions, like this attitude is common across all Deere and Kubota dealers or, worse yet, all businesses, is wrong.

But praising, even in posts that contain comments that poor customer service is very common but their local dealer is the exception, typically follows posts that contain gross generalizations and more than a dash of hyperbole, so, perhaps they inadvertently serve a purpose.

On the topic, the posters who have suggested synthetic fluid might be right on- I run synthetic engine oil, and that makes a great difference in cold starting my old tractor. I run expensive synthetic tranny oil in my 5 speed Subaru, and that makes a great difference it how it shifts when cold (and warm, for that matter- the synchros seem to like it!) so I would expect the same sort of results in a tractor. Conventional gear oil and hydraulic fluid is multi-grade for a reason. As for the dealers who don't want business, think of it as a fair warning that any experiences you have with them are likely to be unpleasant. Too bad, but some people have issues, and it sounds like these guys certainly do.

Long story short, I live in Hendersonville NC, but I bought my L3130 from another dealer in SC because the local dealer acted like he didn't care if I bought one from him or not and the SC dealer was $1000 cheaper. I've used the local dealer for over $1000 of broken parts (my fault, not the tractor) because he was close. The other day I mentioned my transmission wouldn't pull above 4th gear in cold weather until it warmed up. I was bluntly told not to bring it to them for repair. I pointed out that it wasn't a warranty job, it would be cash but they flatly said since I didn't buy it from them, they wouldn't work on it. Has anyone run into this kind of problem with a Kubota dealer? Who do I complain to? Second, what would cause this sort of transmission problem? It still pulls OK when warmed up. I like my tractor, but I am sorry I have done any business with my local dealership. I'm sure the SC dealer would have been happy to ship me anything I needed.
Had a Kubota dealer here in Jackson Mi. tell me if I bought my Kubota from out of town he would not warrenty or service it.Guess what I bought from another Kubota dealer in adrain Mi. about 30 miles from there dealership an saved about $2,000 bucks on my kubota 2006 RTV.Some dealers DON,T have a clue.

I had a Kubota Dealer that refused to sell me a Posthole digger because I did not buy my BX from them...

Flatly told me to go back the Dealer that sold me the Tractor... thanked him very much and have never been back.

Even ordered my service parts from Neil because of this.

By the way... the Dealer I did buy my tractor from is no longer in business...

It seems to be a bigger issue with farm and estate tractors.

My Caterpillar Dealer and my Deere yellow Dealer couldn't be more helpful... Cat always made me feel like a VIP even though I had a 30 year old D3.

When I told the sales manager there was nothing on the floor I could afford... he said it's not a problem... by the way, his cell was on his card!

A friend had this problem with a Ford dealer about 20 years ago... he was told they only work on cars they sold... it was a warranty issue and he had moved from Atlanta to San Francisco... worked at a law firm.

He asked the Dealer to put it in writing and the guy did... the law firm where he worked had a field day with it and raised **** with Dearborn... the dealer from that day on picked up his car from his home and provided a free loaner... I guess they got taken out to the woodshed.

Right. It is a factory warranty, not a dealer warranty. Those dealers should be reported. Having said that, I can't say that I really would want to trust my tractors to someone "forced" by the manufacturer to do my warranty work.

What better opportunity to gain thrust in your customers and get the next sale than do good warranty work on a tractor sold by your competitor? Business 101.

I don't understand this business behavior. Seems its cutting your nose off to spite your face kind of mentality. A few years back a local developer was selling lots and building custom homes on property he owned. The catch was you had to be interviewed by him and if he didn't like you he wouldn't sell you a lot. It seems he wanted to control the type of people who were in his subdivision. How stupid is that. If you think that all the way through what happens when homeowners decide to sell. He would have no control over who the new buyers were. I don't understand peoples thinking sometimes.

Went to the dealer in Asheville, spoke to the service manager about the transmission problem. He didn't recommend using the synthetic hydraulic oil due to the extra cost [$30 per 5 gallon], and that I had metal turnings in the second fluid change. His thinking is that if I end up needing a rebuild, there is no point in using the high dollar fluid. Did recommend using the standard oil and a filter. PS. Did buy same from this dealer, around $300 worth of business that could have gone to the Hendersonville dealer. To answer your question, the tractor has only about 620 hours on it now.

This is absolutely crazy, but proof that it does happen. When the topic comes up, lots of people claim that no dealer would ever say such things, but people with no reason to lie report it pretty regularly.

It just might be that there's nothing wrong with the tractor. This reminds me of the time a neighbor bought an old used, but pretty nice, Oliver 1855. The first cold morning, he started it, but could not get it to move at all. So he left it running while he went back in the house, got a cup of coffee, and called the dealer from whom he bought it. The dealer told him that was normal; that it had to warm up a bit before use. And by the time he went back outside, the old Oliver worked just fine.
LOL Sorry to get a laugh but i read and thought you were going to say he went back outside and the tractor had warmed up and drove itself off.lol

While I don't like blanket statements about anyone or dealerships in this case, I also do think that they should be called out when extremely poor service is given. Too many have managed to get away with doing things like this and then the next guy suffers as a result.
While I have yet to be treated with any seriously bad service by any tractor related businesses, I have had a national oil change company actually leave a fill plug out of my wifes transmission, which let it throw all the oil out. Then was basically told to prove that they did it and that I didn't remove the plug to get a free transmission. Then they went on to suggest that they could out-lawyer me.
So when someone has a complaint on here I take heed. I may not avoid the dealers in the particular area due to their posts, but I would go in with my eyes open. That isn't a bad thing is it? And Enigma didn't name the dealer so it doesn't appear that he was trying to harm anyone in particular. Right or wrong, that's my view and I respect yours as well since I think I understand your side as well.

I had bought a brand new Kubota ZTR from this dealer previous also.I could not believe they way they treated me.Hence my purchase of my first 2008 Kioti Dk40 se tractor verses Kubota grand L 4240.This dealer lost a **** of a lot of my future business.I now drive 70 miles to my local Kioti dealer who treats me with excellent service and sales.Heck they even sold me another nice Kioti cab tractor last year.Only god knows when some of these dealers get off there high horse and start to help and work with there customers.I never once wanted something for nothing and usually paid cash.
