Tractor
John Deere 5203, John Deere 5083e
So I finally talked my family into getting a new tractor. We ended up getting a 2012 John Deere 5083e with a 553 loader, 4wd, and best of all, a cab and it has the power reverser transmission, which I love. Has 83 engine hp and 70 pto hp. It's not brand new, but it has only 400 hours, so basically it's new. Has had more than enough power to do what we've asked of it, which included digging out rocks the size of my duramax truck bed, 8' box. Will keep updating for people looking at getting a tractor this size. So far, this tractor is extremely well balanced, operates well with controls conveniently located. If anyone can recommend a tractor this size, please post, if no one lets other people know there operating experience, it makes it harder for people to get an idea of the equipment.

You are defiantly not very many hours. A farmer down the road has 6500 hours on his little john deere 2240. The only problem we've had with it was the block heater went out the week after they brought it which they installed. They turned it to far to where I think it was shorting out on the engine block so it killed itself. But on the plus hand, the dealer was great, sent a new one out for free just as long as we sent the old one back. Where we are I can't get by without a block heater. The other week the low was -16 and then a little bit before that the wind chill made it feel like it was -40. Thank god for the invention of a cab and a wood stove.

I know! Can't wait for spring to start really testing it out. I would do it now but can't because of the ground being to soft, step anywhere and water splashes out.

Congrats on the new tractor. The bucket only looks like it had about 10 hours on it, the paint is barely scratched.

Yeah, the dealer told us the previous owner only did drawbar work with it and traded it to get something bigger for a tax write off.
