I'm a Stihl guy but...

My dealer knew I'd been searching for a top handle saw. Today he called to tell me he had only one Husqvarna T435 left and if I wanted a good deal to head on over ASAP.

I'm a Stihl guy, but the deal he gave me I couldn't pass up.

How many shades of orange (Kubota, Allis Chalmers, Stihl, Echo and now Husky) can I own before it starts getting tacky?

I wouldn't consider it cheating. The Stihl's both know, even the Echo backpack blower seemed fine with it.

I have no doubts about this little saw. But I think I'll keep both the 18" Stihl saws, you know, just in case I need to cut something larger than a limb.

I like my Husky top handles. I don't own any Stihl top handles. And have owned several of the Echo top handle saws. Thanks XYZ for the update

Why a top handle, do you do a lot of climbing or bucket limbing?

Top handles are great saws for the weight and power for branches and small trunk stuff up to about 14-15" size. Less wear and tear on us old geezers.

I have a 435 and like it a lot. Handiest saw in the stable of 6. I 18" Stihl, and one 20" Poulan and the rest are huskys, ,24" the largest. The Stihl is very temperamental and the Poulan on its last legs (not part supported anyway) and soon to be in the past. Looking at a pole type husky for limbing from the ground and a 36". It is amazing that the top handle saws used to be in the low end but now as much as a 20 regular saw.

I'm actually a young'in compared to a lot of others here.

I wanted a small saw for a lot of little jobs such as cutting brace post to size, trimming posts to size, trimming limbs, ect.

The compact size of a top handle was a plus for carrying it in the RTV, tractor, or under the back seat of my pickup.

I had borrowed my friends 011 Stihl for a long time, which I really liked and had been trying to buy. I messed up and took him with me when I bought the new saw, so he wanted his back.

I've got several hundred little trees that saw would be just the ticket for. My husky 372 xp is just a little much to carry around and cut 3 and 4 inch trees with. Nice saw, wish I could talk the wife into letting me get something similar.

Shhhhhhhhh. I have done got the wife convinced to let me buy a dozer when we sell our other house. But I'll definitely invite you over. Might just see how fast we can clear and burn 5 acres.

I have cut professionally and always have had top handle saws, but they are dangerous, so be careful if you get one. The distance between your hands is so close that the tip can kick back on you easily. There is even worse kickback possibility if you single hand it. They are made for in tree professionals where only one hand is available many times. So if you are a weekend warrior, be careful with them.

The increased possibility of kickback is a good point. Having previously used a top handle saw and reading about them on TBN I am well aware.

I'm no week end warrior or pro. But I know enough to be super careful!
