Dave, we had never cooked a spiral ham until two or three weeks ago. Mamma wanted one, but she couldn't use the whole thing, so we took half of it. We found out we liked it, so we did one for Thanksgiving. And we did put the bone with a goodly amount of meat still on it in the freezer for beans. But I always get a huge ham for Christmas from my work, so we will need to be checking to make sure all of last year's ham is used. We have it cut into three roasts, then about a quarter of it sliced in steaks to cook for breakfast and the rest into ham hocks to go in New Year's blackeyed peas. {I have never been crazy about jowls, on hogs or anyone else}
