Quick hitch vs pat's hitch

/ Quick hitch vs pat's hitch #41
I made a couple of "hybrid" type QA's from harbor freight CAT II QAs, I can Adjust mine for Cat I, II and other odd ball sized implements. I've been happy with mine and I built each of them for right at 100.00 each... Harbor freight was discontinuing this model so I picked them up at a discount plus I used a 20% off coupon.

Here's a few pics, the first pic is before I modified it:

EDIT: I also had a little trouble with my top hook so I milled the angle down and it works pretty good now.

I like your trailer/bale mover. Did you build it or buy it. I built a trailer mover and have thought about adding a removeable bale spear to mine.

I bought it of eBay from Titan manufacturing last year for 199 I think ... It's now a little cheaper on eBay. It has been very useful ... The only thing I would change is I would have welded the receiver flush to the cross bar ... It works fine with 4x5 bales but larger ones tend to fall off, If I had a hydraulic top link I think it would work fine as is .

so now the question, if we have cat1 and cat 2 implements, which way would it be easier to adapt so we can just use one quick hitch? I think I saw somewhere that we could somehow adapt a cat 2 to a cat 1 or vs.

Priefert makes/made one adjustable between Cat 1 and Cat 2, but I can't find it on their site this AM to make a link to it. It was in "Implements" - "Misc," I think.

it is pricey, I wonder if the adaptor will fit another brand. I will send them a note for that.

Not sure just what $48 would get you if you compared it too the hitch itself price. It sure would be nice to have a picture of the adaptor, of course if we had a picture we would probably just make our own!:dance1:

The problem with all of these big ones is they weigh too much. My little BX25 has a lift capacity of only 670 lbs., and I don't want to reduce that further by adding a heavy QH system, so Pat's seems the best for me.

Pat's is a quality product. But it is not a Quick Hitch. Very little comparison actually. Serves two separate needs.

You would be surprised what you can lift with a BX that has a quick hitch on it. I have 5 suitcase weights and still can't keep the front down. I think the BX will almost lift 670lbs X 2.

I agree.

I agree.

Not sure what you mean here. Do you put the suitcase weights in the FEL? I have lifted big logs with the BH/Thumb and balanced it with a FEL load of dirt or rocks, but I have not used anything in the FEL when I put the rear (400 lb. +) blower on. Also, I can't see why Kubota would under-rate their 3-pt. hitch that much.

This brings up a point I was wondering about.

I only have 1 behind I sit on. I only use 1 tractor at a time. How difficult is it to move a QH between tractors? It's got to be easier than moving a tiller.

Good grief. You must have a lot of time on your hands. I bought the hitch so I didn't have to work at changing implements. Imagine that is you had one hitch connecting your mower, but you wanted to grade the drive with the other tractor? I want to bring a beer and watch you work.

After bending up my Speeco hitch I got a harbor freight hitch. It was so light and cheap (quality/strength) that I put it in the corner and got an iMatch. If I bent it tomorrow, I would buy another tomorrow.

I'm 51 now. A back injury from wrestling implements is way more expensive than a hitch.

Speaking of tillers, Mine sits on a carrier with casters. The tiller can be on my tractor in less time than a minute.

I can use these forks on the BX.

and lift this blade that weighs 750lbs on a pallet that weighs 40lbs = 790lbs plus a 60lb QH would be 850lbs and my pallet mover that IDK what it weighs, maybe 200lbs (I need to try to figure out its weight) would be approximately 850lbs.

What kind of tractor did you break the Speeco QH with?

I'm with JRP. I bent a Northern Tool CAT I QH using it on a B2910. Bent it using a box blade. Bent the lower brackets to the side. Only reason it didn't destroy it was the top link started taking some of the lateral pressure.

A lot of users on here buy Harbor Freight or any other cheap brand they can find and get along fine.

A very good indicator of what you are buying is the shipping weight. Light is cheap. Light is weak. They go hand in hand.
