Remove the bounce:

Add several lateral links between the cross chains

THIS. the more lateral links you have the smoother the machine will ride on chains. i went from 4-link to 2-link when i bought my BX ... the difference was tremendous.

Also the chains don't chew up asphalt surfaces as there is constant contact. It is the gaps between large spaces that cause a slip grab effect and at each grab you get a dig and hence damaged pavement.
