Correct, I could have got new on Ebay for about $100 more, but that is
about 50% of the cost of a log wizard too!

I have maybe 12 or so 30" to 48" rounds I need to quarter so I do not
trash my log splitter trying to split them. Been there, done that so this
will get me out of the woods so to speak and leave me w/ a platform
for that debarker I want to get.

This 445 looks like it has very low hours to me.

Rollin' da' dice!

What I do not know about chainsaws would fill volumes and volumes...
Having said that, today I bought a flebay special, a Husky 445 . It seemed like a pretty good
deal at under $180.00 w/ FreeShippin'.
I am a big boy if I blewit please tell me!
?

You did good if it is in as good of condition as it looks. $180 would be worth it if I were a Husky man. A lot of people get a lot of of wood cut with those. I like Stihls but Huskys are good too.

I have a few Stihl tools and none of them have ever let me down but
I want to try another brand and see what I can see for myself. The $180.00
price includes shipping too so I think the saw was actually bout' $155.00 or so.
The chain appears to have a lot of meat on it as well.

I can't wait to get it and clean it, just to bother Mr. xyz123 ;-)

I think it is gonna look almost new w/ a few wipes using WDForty.

I got me fingers crossed!

Huge difference between the 555 we started talking about and a 445.

The 445 is a consumer saw, with a plastic case. The 353/346xp/359/357xp/545/550xp/555/562xp all have metal cases and pro build construction.

The 445 isn't that bad, but there is so much better to chose from. It will cut wood and probably least for years...

Also, even though Husqv owns Poulan, the 445 is made in Sweden by Husqv. Only the two cheapest Husqv models are made by Poulan in the USA, I believe the 235, 240? Actually they aren't that bad for the price...

Yes, a huge difference, this much I know.
It is not in place of a 555 but in addition too.
I will still get a bigger saw, it is not off the table.

Like you stated, buy a refirb pro saw from xyz or new if you can afford it. It makes cutting so much better. If you only do 10 face or less then the homeowner saws make sence but for more the pro saws are that much better. I am guessing I am at about 150 full cord this year, it has been a little slow for me with only about 4 clearing/road jobs and 2 tree removals but wood for 3 more years for 3 households easy. CJ

Should of ask first. I knew of a guy with a 353 that looked like new for $250 shipped. Not me but a friend in Iowa. A good looking 350 for $200 shipped in TN. Just to name a few.

Others, 365 special $250 PHO, 2 394xp 24" and 32" $450 a piece. 200T shipped $389.

BLAST! Oh well, live and learn. Hmmm, maybe I should give this 445 a bath,
sharpen the chain and sell it for mas! I might just do that...

I am only in it $180.00 delivered. My ebay feedback is over 1100 and always
at 100% so if she runs she goes. I am not married to any chainsaw... :)

I came real close to buying that 353! Mitch is a good guy! Glad it sold, because I have 2 346xp's and a 350, don't need another 50cc.

Guy talking about selling a very clean 346xp on another forum. I put in a bid, but probably too low.

The Husqy dealers here seem not to know about the shortage...

So my little 445 saw arrived today. Instantly I see a split in the cardboard shipping box, and I start to worry.
Sure enough, they took off the bar and chain and the bar is now collecting dust
at a UPS center somewhere between here and there.

I opened the box and smelt gasoline BIG TIME. The packing newspaper is soaked
w/ fuel AND the chain bar is missing, you can so see where they put the bar on edge and
it simply wore a hole in the corner of the box and fell out... DO you suppose the plane ride
to altitude tweeked a diaphragm or something because the gas cap on the machine
has a good o ring and it does not leak.

That is the beginning.

I try to start it and NOTHING. I pull the plug and it looks like it runs good, not
wet, not all black, a light burnt brown electrode. I clean the plug and give things a
squirt of Starter fluid, no luck. Then I pull the plug and gap it to .50+/- mm, it
was really wide and no start still.

I pull and clean the air filter.

I check for a spark.

I pull out the fuel filter and blow it out.

I put newer mix gas in it.

I squirt cleaned carb linkages.

I reread starting procedures for the 6th time.

Still nothing.

Now I am as mad as a raped ape and I go'N grab a "beverage" and hit the web for answers.

I go looking for an online troubleshooting something and find nothing.

Hours passed aimlessly wandering the web looking for a manual that
tell me how to do xyz's job and nothing.

Finally I find the name of the carb company, Zuma EF 20 I think it is.
It says HERE to screw both high and low all the way in then out 2 turns
then screw the throttle screw all the way in. Of corse I can not
adjust the L&H, but I did screw the idle screw all the way in a lONG WAYS and then It started.

I turned the idle screw out maybe 4 or so turns and it settled down
into a good slow idle. It is very responsive. Lots of umph!

And yes I see ( I Think) I need a special tool for L & H . Anyone got one to
sell me or tell me what/where to buy it?

Thank u !
