I have really grown fond of the 562xp after close to 2 years use.

I have no clue on the Calif epa stuff on a 555 there. But great saws this way. Just a detuned 562 with small mount bar.

If you are wanting the hotter version, but wanting small mount. Jonsered 2260

Thanks so much for the input, it is much appreciated. This sent me off on a learning expedition on Utube. One Utube'r in particular really seems to have a lot of quality info on these saws. The more I look at this 555 the more I think I will really like it, w/ a 24" and a set of outside spikes, mostly to help protect the saw, like a rollbar if you will.

Thanx Don. I watched some Utube's comparing the 2 and there pretty close in performance,
being that close if the 555 is a lot cheaper I will probably go that route, then a muff mod perhaps!

One UTube'r said the 555 muffler is a monster. I might have to get a few mufflers and mod them
differently perhaps an compare down the road...

The 555 is basically a 562xp with smaller transfers (bit less HP), small bar mount and smaller air filter. They are very close and parts interchange. I almost got a 555, but got too good a deal on a 562xp with a 20" Tech-lite bar. There will be about $150 diff between the two. Can't go wrong with either saw!

Soooo, could a guy swap a 562xp's Air Cleaner into a 555?

If so;

...Air in Air out so if the air cleaner mod is possible, doing that AND a muff mod might be sweet ehh?

No carb to adjust these two mods could really wake up a 555, ya think?

No Need for a larger air filter, the one on the 555 is sufficient. A muff mod is all ya need to wake it up, if even that. Both actually run fine stock. The 562xp is the most impressive stock saw I've ever run and I've run a bunch of saws, both stock and modified.

I had a 550xp and 545. I tested my 550 against a muffler modded 550. There is no way in heck I would want to run a 550 just muffler modded. Loudest dang saw I ever heard with muffler mod. For the little gains I seen between the two. I would leave my muffler stock, unless I was going with full woods porting JMO.
Yep I am getting old enough now to where the loud mufflers suck, unless you got ear protection on. Which I never do running a saw.

If the 555 562 gets super loud like a 550 muffler mod, I wouldnt do it myself.

Sounds like the words of experience, and I shall listen~!

Now that I don't cut professionally, I run stock and like a quieter saw, even though I do wear hearing protection. As a professional the percentages you can improve by mods sometimes keeps you in business.

My stock 562 is as loud as my modded 346, so you guessed it no muffler mod for the 562. My modded 372 is now proudly wearing a block off plate for the muffler mod. These modded saws are just too loud to run all day. CJ

My modded 346xp is/was a lot loader than my stock 562xp?

But then I went and modded the 562 muff. Heck of a lot more noise and just a little gain... I think I'll put a stock muff back on the 562. I like quiet and smooth, sometimes...

A quicker saw sure can put more money in yer pocket.

But for me it's more of a time thing and I just enjoy runnin mean, nasty, fast saws!

When I had the 346 modded I specifically said I did not want it loud, so it got a 3/8" hole and I opened up the factory outlet. Worked good, improved the saw a bunch with only a little extra noise. CJ

Yeah, that'll make a difference. My second outlet is around 3/4" and the factory outlet is opened up. I don't really like the extra noise, but I do wear ear muffs when cuttin...

What I do not know about chainsaws would fill volumes and volumes...

Having said that, today I bought a flebay special, a Husky 445 . It seemed like a pretty good
deal at under $180.00 w/ FreeShippin'.

I am a big boy if I blewit please tell me!

I am going to be wanting one of those log debarking tools like a Log Wizard
some day (looking for a deal on one) and I figured if this saw is worth a darn it might make a good
candidate for the that tool.

I am also thinking I might be better off buying a rebuilt "something" from xyz123 or others
as well when I want another saw. (which is already...ha! )

Interesting how the videographer in the above link trash talks Poulan. Isn't "Poulan"
a subsidiary of Husqvarna?

Well, if it runs good and does what you need and you are happy, then no you didnt blow it.

But...for a hundred more I think you can get them new????

For me, I wouldnt buy a 445, even for $100. Just no value to me. But everyones needs are different. If you want a light trimming saw, it should be fine. For for similar money, you can get a used bigger and faster saw, but then again, if you want a trimmer.....you dont want big and fast.

Let us know how it runs and what you think.

Around here I believe the 445 is around 400-450 new.
