Oh man I hope you get that L60. Fine looking machine. Please post if you do get it. If my 5740 had more than 140 hours on it I'd consider getting the L60 series.

The ShelterLogic has been great. It's been there for two years. Been through 2 tropical storms and no less than 10 winter storms and it haven't budged and no fading and no signs of wear. One of the best things I bought in years. I went and dug up some photos for your viewing pleasure. Ill get an updated photo today on the shelter after being up for two years. Hope it helps. Thanks for posting.

I really hope the L60 works out as well. Just waiting on the final quote from my dealer, but I'm fairly confident I'm going to pull the trigger. Just not sure which model I will end up with (I'm leaning towards the L4060 at this point.)

And thanks a bunch for posting those pictures of the Shelterlogic! That is so awesome! It's interesting to see what the framing looks like during the build and combined with your video I think it will definitely help me with my assembly. Much appreciated.

Your kindly welcome. I just uploaded two photo's of the shelter as it is this morning. As you can see the wrinkles are still in it from the time I removed it from the boxes. If and when you get one you might find the instructions a little confusing. Drop me a PM and I can do a little video for you on the tricks I learned about installing it or If you want just call me.
Good luck with the new tractor. The wait is terrible but well wort it.

4shorts, how much was the shelter and what are the dimensions? (You got it from Crappy Tire I assume.) I have had 3, 10' X 20' plastic garages from COSTCO that have held up well, although (a) you do have to "roof rake" them, and (b) eventually the sun's UV rays do wreck the roof (which you can help prevent by adding even a cheap tarp over top). I may end up stick-building a roof structure, with a plywood and shingles roof, but that is more expense.

Yup. I got it at CT. The size is on the photo I included of the box. It is 12'X24'X10'. I don't remember the exact cost but $599. comes to mind but I remember they had a sale on them and I think It was $150 off then I had $300. in CT money so it cost me very little.
For anyone installing these shelters the golden rule is to get them well anchored. Each rib or support some might call them has 3 tiny holes in them that you can put large nails in. Well I didn't do that. I cut 4"X4" flat bar, enough to weld on to each portion of the leg. I punched two holes in each plate then got 1/2" re-bar cut each piece 36" long then used a ground rod driver to hammer them into the ground through the holes in the plates. This shelter hasn't budged. Remember. If you don't do your best to anchor it down and it decides to take off during a storm what ever is inside at the time could get damaged and we don't want that do we ?

I've had no issues with snow on the top due to it's shape but once in awhile I will shovel out on each side of the shelter because of the snow build up on each side. The beauty with the shelter is I can't get taxed for having it on my property.

Neat pics of the ShelterLogic, 4shorts! I have considered similar, but didn't know how secure it would be. Thanks for the info on durability With no snow here to speak of, it might be fairly "worry free", once up.

Thank you Farmgirl. For an inexpensive item I think it's well worth the money. It's kept our tractor dry for two years now so its cheap storage by today's standards.

Well this evening I decided to try a different blade on the Stihl trimmer. I went with the multi tooth type this time and the trimmer was acting like it was on steroids. It cut fast and efficient compared to the three bladed one I used last evening. The only disadvantage with the multi tooth blade was it don't like rocks of any kind and if you just touch one it dulls fast and needs to be touched up where as the three bladed type can hit rocks and not even dent it.

So another bit of experience on the Stihl FS250. It's supposed to be only 14c here tomorrow so I'lll skip work for a few hours and finish up the clearing while it remains cool :cool2:

I have a FS 310 mainly to try and control Scotch Broom. I use the three point cutting head. It does a job on the nasty weed, but it is a continuing battle. Seeds are good for fifty years. :irked:

Good machine...

I'm reserving judgment on my Shelterlogic. I've had it up for about 8-9months and one of the seams is opening up at one peak/end. Not from strain I don't believe, but rather adhesion failure. Its warranted for 1year, so will be interesting to see if they ship me a new main canopy. I've loved it to this point! :)

Wow fifty years  glad I don't have to contend with those? No doubt about it the tree blade cutter is good but yesterday evening I was into 2" trees and it flue through those. The FS310 must be a brute. You could strap that on the end of a boat and have an instant air boat

Sorry to hear about yours. Is it the same design as mine? Not sure if its true but I hear ShelterLogic isn't great to deal with on warranty issues. Well that's what I remember reading on the reviews before I bought mine. Please let us know how it works out.

I guess those would need a concrete floor? I think I'm going to go with a steel building next. Got my eye on some new tooling so a much larger building will be needed. 3K for one of those large shelters is a steel.

The weatherman was right. The temperature dropped down to 14c today. What a great relief from the hot humid weather we've been having. Seeing today is my kind of weather wifey and I decided to skip work for the day and start cutting and hauling brush. My goal was to go 70' long and 40' wide. It too all day but we got it done. The brush was as thick as a jungle and it was tough getting through it but we did it.
The town has a drop off point for dumping bows and brush but only during working hours so that was mother reason for us taking the day off but it's great to be able to just haul this sort of thing there and have them shred it.

Anyway we have a major amount of rain coming for tomorrow and we managed to meet our goal of 70' X 40' so all is good. The new Stihl FS250 worked perfectly and we couldn't have got it all one with out it. It took 10 loads to complete it.

This is what we started with:

At this point I'm pretty beat :confused2:

And this is it cleared. Next week we'll start back filling it and we'll have a lot more room.

I can't run a chainsaw that much in one day! Must be a "girl thing"! I will get busy with mine, once we drop below 90*F. that may be a while, since we are still triple digits here! After seeing all of your clearing, I am inspired to do some of mine. It will take me most of the Fall, but at least it will get done!

Thanks again, 4shorts!

It told wifey not to donate any of my body parts after today's work because there's nothing left in me worth donating  I'm sore in places I never knew I had. Dad used to say that he was happy I didn't become a carpenter like he was because he figured if I did I'd want to start building a house in the morning and want to move in that same night. :D

I get to focused in what I do. Just have to see it through. Triple digits  I would just find a place then lay down and die. I will admit. I just can't take the heat
What is the coldest it get there?

   / BX25D. Mod #1 and continued. #1,276
Too funny, 4shorts!

I can handle the heat, MUCH better than the cold! Where I am, we will get into the 20s a few times during the winter. In a really cold winter, we can get into single digits at night, but those are pretty rare. We will get a night or two in the teens, most winters. We also have some nice 65* days in the winter for getting work done and being ready for the next cold spell. Most of our daytime temps are in the 40s, during January and February, between our warmer days.

In the Springtime, I am always reminded of muscles that I forgot about, when I pick up the hoe and work the garden, and then pick up the chainsaw and use it too. And I don't run the chainsaw more than about an hour and a half, before I take a breather, then go out and stack the wood that I cut. I would love to be able to finish a job in one day, but even with just the 16 inch blade, the weight of the thing wears me down. An hour and a half a day is about my limit. Sometimes, I can do another half an hour later in the day, but not always. :ashamed:

I hope your muscles forgive you soon! :D

I prefer the cold as there is only so much you can take off (and still be "decent" in public, or safe when running power equipment) :D.

I can get claustrophobic in layers of clothes. I can get by in shorts and a tank top in the summer, but putting on clothes in the winter, is rough. I finally look like the Michelin Man, and am still cold! And as soon as you get cold, one has to go potty. Now there is a production, and as soon as one is dressed again, and back ready to work in the barn, the process repeats itself!

Me too. Given the choice I'll take the cold all day long. October is my favourite time of the year. Really comfortable for working.

I just finished asking wifey to take me to the vet and get me put down  I'm hurt'en lol

I remember back when I lived up North many years ago. A bunch of us would take our snowmobiles up to the cabin on the weekends. It was COLD up there and I remember one time when my buddy had to do his #2 really bad so in a rush he pulled his snow suit down, did his business (remember, this was outside) and in a rush as to not freeze to death in the process got it done then pulled his snow suit back up not realizing his business went right in his hood
Well it ran all down the back of his neck. It was a $hitty situation to find yourself in and I never forgot that day

OMG! 4shorts, you have just given me another reason to not want to be where it gets THAT cold! I literally laughed out loud. I'm sure your friend didn't find it funny at the time, though.
