Ford 6.0 TD Question

/ Ford 6.0 TD Question #21
It can be a tough decision sometimes. Some guys are really brand loyal. Personally, I have had good luck with Fords. I have also owned several Dodges, the weak link was always the tranny in the dodge. The GMs were just weak IMO, they just got sloppy and loose way to fast. As I said, I have had several 6.0s and I skipped the 6.4, but just traded a V10 F350 for a new ford diesel f350, hope it stays together.

too bad you don't know of a 6.0 engine needing a home AND get him to come down on the truck price.

I just sold a running but partially-parted f250. 6.0 in it had 250k on it and ran strong with no smoke.. entire truck went for 1800$. we took hood and radiator and trnas cooler and alt off of it...plus nose clip. bought it specifically for them parts..

I really don't want it bad enough to go through all of that..if he drops the pice A LOT, I'll reconsider.

Here's another you may want to look at... Just kidding really, but thought you might get a kick out of the ad. Big thing to note is 'Everything else completely stock and no tuner.' ;) Gotta laugh at some of these...

From CL ad below

2005 Ford F350 dually with a Power Stroke and automatic transmission lifted 7" with only 97,000 original miles on it. Black exterior with ghost flames, new Nitto Grappler tires and a new goose neck hide-a-hitch that has never been used. Engine has had the EGR upgrade an Air Raid breather with cowl hood and a straight exhaust. Everything else is completely stock and no tuner.

Truck ride and drives like new.

Interior has black leather seats, all power including a power sun roof, 3-TV's and a DVD player. Inside of bed has been lined and a A.R.E. topper has been installed.

Listed price is my cash price

i must be missing the point where lack of a tuner makes a negative impact on the sale. i'd say it makes a positive impact.

could it have not just been a superchips reprogram to performance.. then set back to stock.. etc?

/ Ford 6.0 TD Question #27
Could be, and didn't mean to say tuner=bad. Just seemed funny to me to list all the mods on hood, air, exhaust, hitch never used, 7" lift, etc and then make a point to say no tuner & all else stock. But I don't trust 90% of any CL stuff, so maybe that's my problem ;)

This one? F350 Dually diesel lifted 4x4 XLT
I dont like the install job on the TVs, the corner sticks out past the back seat. Also, from the looks of the truck, it might be more accurate to say 'Everything else completely stock and no tuner anymore' :D

That's the one, was going to post link originally but didn't know if that was taboo. 'anymore' is pretty much what I thought. Just got a laugh when I read it.

Have been doing a search for f350 on CL for awhile now and you see it all, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Have it down to about 5 min a day just checking and being patient. A decent deal will come along one of these days.

I'll be putting this truck up for sale soon, 2003 F350 Lariat 6.0 diesel. Hopefully it's an easier sale as I have done most of the repairs noted. Tool steel studs, fire ring heads, custom sct tuner, ats stage 5 trans, bigger injectors, regulated return fuel system, turbo upgrade & 19.5" truck rims. 97,000 miles on it. I decided I don't use this truck enough anymore and just bought a 2013 F150 Lariat cc long bed with 3.73 and ecoboost which will do whatever I need. I traded a 2011 F150 xlt cc for that. I'm debating on using cl as I don't want all the bs calls and e mails.

Diesel Power Mag just had an issue that dealt with trucks on a budget. One point they made is maybe 6.0 Fords can be bought cheap because of the bad reputation. To the OP, the truck is overpriced in my book. I'd want to pay 6 to 8k for it and fix it myself and my leisure.

The costs alone will scare many away, repair bill will be more than it is worth.

I'd like to find one of these "cheap" 6.0's.

Old thread, but this is the truck I was looking at...He ended up having a performance diesel guy do all the repairs--Studs, gaskets amongst other things. Another 4K or so..Anyway, he was playing around at camp when it was fairly new. The truck still looks like this, he hand cleans the undercarriage.
