We dont have HF here. We have its Canadian and considerably more expensive cousin, Princess Auto.

Thats why im trying to confirm if the Speeco is the exact same. The Speeco at PA is 2x the price of the HF (never on sale that I seen); if it is the same then were being royally shafted. If the Speeco it better quality, then maybe there is some value in the higher price.

That said, I wonder how the latch mechanism works? It looks like it would be an easy project to build.

The speeco does not look that much better than a harbor freight. Did anyone in Canada check on a imatch?

I havent called Deere myself.

Id like a quick hitch, but dont want to break the bank either.

I had rented a stump grinder

Paul, just curious as to why you used a stump grinder vs pulling the stumps out? Why I ask is that the stumps will eventually rot and then you'll get a sinkhole where they once stood. Were any of the stumps in the driveway area? You've got quite a drop off next to the shop (I realize you'll get more room once the fuel tanks are moved) but was curious about sinkholes later on. Thanks for the updates and videos. Stanley

Stanley the closest sinkhole I ever seen around here was while watching CNN. That don't happen around here. I've seen stumps sticking 4" out of the ground that's been there for over 20 years and they were still in good shape.

When we first started removing the trees I dug up a stump on the front of the property down by the road and it was a terrible big tear up and I said I'd never do that again plus the time and top soil it took to do that stump was crazy. I find that leaving the stumps in the ground gives the ground more stability and keeps things in place. Tearing them out means putting back fresh fill/topsoil that is all alive and loose.
When I grinded the stumps I went 6" below grade and a few shovel full of soil and I was done. I did 8 stumps in one hour. To many rocks in Newfoundland to get a sinkhole ;)

Paul:

To change the subject slightly, I was looking at your picture file and saw a picture of the dash on your "L". What are the two small gauges on either side of what appears to be a reversing camera viewer. Also have you or anyone else put an analog Tach on your BZ? The little digital tach/hour meter is not the easiest to read. Wish they had put an instrument cluster on the BZ similar to the "B" and larger tractors, oh well can't have everything.

Paul, I didn't think about the rocks in your area. The first house I built the stumps from large oak trees were buried in the back part of the property and after about 10 years the lawn started sinking in places due to the stumps rotting. I was continually filling in the low areas until I moved. Thanks for your explanation. Stanley
