The Gatormade expierence.

My apologies for posting without reading through everything. So I will keep it short. I did own a Gatormade GN trailer. I absolutely loved it EXEPT for the cheap wiring connectors. But I addressed that when I first got it home, never had any issues, and would buy another one without hesitation.

GOOD LUCK!

I have not owned a Gatormade trailer, but have heard they improved quality.
I ended up buying a Titan trailer, good quality & heavy duty.

New member + First post raving about Gatormade = Agenda?

Right, and I'm not your pal. Your post was clearly designed to promote Gatormade trailers while bashing the competition, and perhaps even trying to do a little damage control. However, your efforts are a monumental waste of time because the vast majority of posts on this thread speak for themselves.

MasseyWV do you own a gatormade? if not, D*mn! shut up! your going off of hear say. look at what the guy had to say. he had some small issues with his but after a year it is still solid. seems like you are the one with an agenda you work for a different trailer company? it sure seems like it.
i am an owner of a 16ft 16k gooseneck dump. It is amazing. If you want to stay in the past and listen to people about their bad experiences and only go off that then your closed mined. Every company has to start somewhere. No matter what the business is there are going to be bad experiences no matter what. You’re going off of performance from years ago. If that is the case I’m going to make a post against ford. The model T only has 20 hp and a top speed of 30mph. that is too slow why would anyone buy a ford. Don’t make any sense when I put it that way does it. Judging a company in the present biased on the far past.
I’m a firefighter and I own an excavation business. I do a lot of hauling. I have had this trailer for 4 months now. I love it. It is awesome. I did have a problem with an axel and they sent me a new one. No problems, no questions asked. The axel failed because of my own stupidity. They took care of me. They are a great company to do business with. I have owned cornpro, kaufman, Titan, and others. Nothing against them they were good trailers, but gator made is very well engineered. Everything was very well thought out. The other ones I have own there is always something that could have been thought out better or better designed. As of yet I have not found a thing that I feel could be better designed.
If you don’t want a gatormade then don’t buy one. I don’t care. Ill I can say is how my experience has been. I’m not knocking other trailer manufactures but the facts are black and white. They powder coat not automotive pain. They use heavier gauge steal that anyone else. To me it just makes sense. The main complain was the paint. They don’t paint anymore. The other is the type of wire connectors. REALLY? The F’ing wire connectors? Come on. If that is all you have to complain about then they are doing well. If you don’t like them go buy some other trailer but don’t be so overbearing to people that are coming here for facts and real reviews.
If you are looking for one and are on the fence about which one to get my opinion is gatormade. I read all the crap that these guys put on here and decided to overlook it and I’m glad I did. The sales men are great. Sid Mosley was who took care of me. He gave me his personal cell number and answered me in a timely manner if he didn’t answer at the time I called. The level of professionalism is outstanding. They have a great facility and are all very polite and bend over backwards to help you even after the sale. Those of you looking to buy, good luck. I hope this has helped.

You catagorize TBN members experience with Gatormade as "crap" in your first post, you lose respect.

You couldn't be more transparent if you tried, and frankly you're the one who needs to shut up! I said it once (you even quoted it), and I'll say it again...

In fact, I think you and the last person (freighthaulerjim) who basically did the same thing (defending Gatormade with their first post), are in fact the same person, or it sure looks that way. The posts you quoted were my responses to freighthaulerjim, plus Terra Haute, Indiana and Coal Bluff, Indiana are less than 20 miles apart according to Google Maps.

Seriously, could you have at least made it a little less obvious?

Satellite dealer?

I found this forum while I was searching for Gatormade reviews, before purchasing my 8.5x20. Maybe that guy did also? I thought I was the biggest Gatormade apologist / defender / whatever on this forum until I saw that dude's posting!

Possibly, or they could be one of those paid reviewers who goes around the internet posting "positive" things about a company to boost sales. It's one of the reasons I never trust positive reviews, and tend to only look at negative reviews to try and determine if there is a consistent pattern of problems.

No, YOU

ARE YOU A SATELLITE DEALER?

for some competing brand.

Exactly how would you KNOW what the other poster meant? And no, I am NOT a trailer dealer. In fact, I'm not a dealer of any kind and unlike many others here, I have no commercial interests in anything. I simply hate false reviews or attempts to make a company look better by using various "tactics".

Or maybe he is like I am, truly a satisfied Gatormade owner. I've had no problems with my Gatormade trailer in the 3 1/2 years that I've owned it other than the biased tires dry rotting and the manufacuturer stepping up and replacing them last year. Are there chips and scratches on my paint with a little bit of rust there? Yep, sure are. But everytime you hook a chain to something or drag it across you are going to scratch it - or anything other type of coating that was put on it. I've pulled it a lot locally both loaded and unloaded, pulls great either way and this winter we took it to Florida and brought a Corvette back to Ohio. No problems, I guess this trailer isn't supposed to do that huh?

I do not understand why the trailer manufactures do not skip paint and powder coat and just go strait to Rhino Lining? We started spraying our own beds with a kit from U-Pol and its awesome. Its cheap, easy to apply, and durable as can be.

I am getting ready to shoot both my bush hog and finish mower.

I've spent some time and have read through this entire thread. I looked at GM before and liked what I saw but since I'm not a commercial guy and won't be making any money with it, couldn't justify the expense. But I need to haul some equipment around and tow bills add up quickly.

After just speaking with GM in Somerset, here are a few things I was told.

1) Paint problems have been cleared up when they started powder coating.
2) New frame design uses 2x6" box or tube construction (on their 16+2 14k trailer I'm looking at) instead of 6" channel.
3) Axle and brake components are made in USA by Lippert Components.
4) Wiring is contained in conduit with no exposed wiring.
5) NO scotch lock connectors. This was offered. I didn't have to ask.
6) I failed to ask about tires.

I'll be going to a local dealer here in Marietta to see for myself. Might not be able to see the new boxed frame trailer, but the other items should be able to be confirmed.

IF, and I say IF, I find the above claims to be true, I may be an owner of a new GM trailer soon because it sounds like what I was told addresses the problems others have had with their GM trailers.

I should be able to post findings tonight or tomorrow.

I have a 2012 gooseneck tilt. It has no conduit anywhere on the trailer. It does have lots of scotch connectors. It is a 2 x 6 frame and powder coated. My CAT loader broke the loading ramp off we had to plate it with 1/2 inch steel no problems since. I tried calling and talking to Ernie at Gatormade left several messages I wanted to send him pictures of the failure, but he never called back. The trailer was bought in June of 2012. For the price the trailer is ok.

This is new, brand new. Marietta dealer told me he just heard about it yesterday. He said he'll have one in stock to look at in a week or so. Everything he has in stock has crimped and exposed wires.

Here are a few pictures GM sent me of the new boxed frame.
