No such thing as a "Free Lunch"! Horsepower or cheeseburgers... you get what you pay for! Much discussion here (and other brand forums) on the 4000 series (and some on the cab model 5083e) of jumping the horsepower with a little "tweak" on the injector pump.

A detailed review of the parts listing's (pump, turbo, injectors) for the different Hp rating on the 4000 quickly illustrates that it's not JUST a set-screw on the pump. It's a whole lot more!

'Course, I don't know about you - but, if I'm gonna buy a NEW tractor - why, why would I trash the warranty right off the dealer's lot??!?

Pony up for those extra horses.

Here she is 5075e with a mx8 cutter. I spent about 6 hours in the seat today and just love it!

Has anyone received a quote on a 5065e with cab, 553 FEL, and the 12/12 Powerreveser transmission?

Interesting question on changing the timing to change horsepower. Not that I dare fool with something that is running right and under warranty. My manual shows timing for the injector pump to be -1 deg.BTDC for the 5045E and +.5 deg BTDC for the other three models 5055, 5065 and 5075 so that is not the only thing that is different. I got the impression while shopping for mine that the difference was in both fuel delivery (perhaps timing and injector size) and in the turbos volume of air injected. I don't know if there is more then one size turbo used on these engines or if they have any adjustments. So if you want your qualified diesel mechanic to boost your horse power he might have to adjust the timing of the injector pump, adjust the fuel flow per stroke, change the injectors to the right size to handle the increased flow and change or adjust the turbo charger to get the right amount of air crammed into each stroke. That shouldn't cost more then $5K for 10 HP boost but JD will do it for you when you order for about $1500. Buy enough tractor to start. :)

The price I got on a 5065M was $35,700: deluxe open station was $38,000: and the 5065m cab was $45,700. An H310 loader added to this was an extra $8000.
A little high.

Did you check into the 5065E as well? Or just the M? I know there is a considerable difference.

I'm surprised the Deere website STILL doesn't list the new 5065E/5075E tractors on their website. I'm interested in the pricing for a decked out 5075E cab, and how it compares spec wise to the NH T4.75.

I can't say I like what they have done with the rear fenders on the E series. Either have fenders or not ,why just cover half of the tire. The ones shown on the 5045D and 5055D are better. And where they have moved the tool box is in the way when mounting and dismounting the machine. They should be able to build a better place for it and use a box that isn't such a light weight POS. And while I'm picking nits the grab handles on the fenders are mounted too close to the tractor. Climbing on is all right but it doesn't come to hand when dismounting. :2cents:

That seems a bit steep... Is that a "first quote" before some real discussion on a settled price? As well, I'd think that the 260 loader would be a better fit for the 65-75 M's. IIRC, the larger Hp M's are 5-600lbs heavier machine.

That does sound a bit steep especially since the 5065M is being phased out. My wife and son paid $32K for a new 2011 5065M w/2WD, Cab, 16F/16R, 2 sets of hydraulic hook ups and Power Reverser this past Summer.

When looking a year or two ago, I started a thread inquiring about the value achieved by spending approximately $10k more for a 5065M vs the 5065E for the occasional user. Several stated it was well worth it. In the end I wound up finding a good deal on 2008 JD 5303 which is the equivalent to the the 5065E. I have been very pleased with my choice and expect to get many years of dependable service from this unit.
