I dunno..... one of my employees had a brand new Tundra, and it was in the shop 5 times in the first 3 months.
Hope your luck is better
Do you realize that Toyota trucks have more American made parts then Chevy, Ford, or Dodge?
10K GVWR ... 3.73 gears ... my driving has been local short runs and the computer says avg 14.6 mpg. Friday I have to haul a mule 200 miles north and will be pulling a 20' stock trailer. I'll see then.
Interested , but confused is SS for stainless steel or those big black pieces that go over wheel wheels on fender and 1/4 panels ?
Have the 3.55 gear r/e in mine gettin 18.9 city/ almost 22 hwy. Could not give any towing figueres never towed anything with it yet. Mileage report with 2/3 big men in truck at any given time(over 200 lbs each-),with tools, ropeing saddles/tack
, and some field equipment in back. Taking off from complete stops easy, keeping hwy speeds 55 to 70. Also run it in 4wd daily so I don't get stuck or tear up back field.

I can relate to how the tow/haul works with the Ford Superduty diesel and it should act the same with a gas engine truck. Using tow/haul changes your shift points so that the transmission shifts at a higher rpm. It also will downshift the transmission as you're applying the brakes and works with your integrated brake controller. I've had it on two Superdutys and it's one of the best features on these trucks.
Its not good for it at all... Just generates heat and acellerates wear. Not to metion killing fuel mileage in the process. Truck is probably in need of more gear to help it overcome the loads being applied to it. Or you can lock it out of 6th when pulling.I did notice the downshift of the transmission. Towing the trailer it appeared to shift alot ... seemed as if the transmission was doing nothing but shifting. I would be going along at 75mph and the slighest condition that required some power it would shift down to 5th and then to 4th and back up to 5th and then to sixth and back down ... I kept thinking this can't be good on the transmission.
Blue,
NICE TRUCK Sir!
My old F-150 is white I put a USA Flag bug shield on it and it really made it stand out... Very sweet ride.
But I'm a hard core Ford guy too! I'm still looking for my new (used) truck...
Be well,
David

That is a gem...
I plan on getting a new one when I retire...
But...
I can't afford to retire...lol
And ... if you do retire I'm told one gets busier than when they are working .... I don't need to have more to do So I'm just gonna keep working!!!

Friday I took the stock trailer(GN) with two 1200 lb horses and one 1000 lb mule .... fuel economy gauge stated an average of 9.4 MPG...now I need someone to talk to me about the following. I mashed the tow/haul button and it sure is not like the Dodge ... seemed like it had no effect ... alot of automatic shifting from 4th to 6th just didn't feel right. I tryed the manual feature and sure didn't care for that. I thought the tow/haul kept it shifted down ????
Welcome back to a gas engine. I sold my 07 Dodge 2500 CTD and went to a Tundra. It had plenty of power but it drove me crazy shifing on the interstate between 5th and 6th. I had another kid so I looked for a truck with a bigger cab than the Tundra dbl cab. I test drove the GM 6.0 and the Ford 6.2 gas and the shifting aggravated me to no end going up the mountains on I-81. I don't think there is anything wrong with your truck it's just you went fron 600lb of torque back to the 400lb range. I now have a 2011 Ford F 250 6.7 XLT and really love it so far. I just got back from a hunting trip in Ontario and I averaged 21.2 mpg going up and 19.8 coming back on a 2,200 mile round trip. One of the riders in my truck had no experience with a diesel and he commented about how my truck never downshifted on the interstate. In my opinion the 6.2 Ford gas engine felt like it had more power than the GM 6.0. I belive you are still comparing a diesel to a gas and it just isn't the same when it comes to having a truck not having to downshift to keep the engine in the proper power range. Good luck and you have a nice ride.
