Just throwing this out there.....wonder if they will ever use Powertech engines in the under 40hp tractors. Now since Yanmar is making Cub Cadet CUT's.

Yanmar - Cub thing is now done. Yanmar's selling under there own name in the states again. I would expect that they would stay supplying JD with engines, though.

You will not see PowerTech engines in the 3 Series and below until some outside company needs those size engines. There is nowhere near enough volume on the under 40hp side for it to be feasible for Deere to R&D and build those engines in house. Remember the big 4 Series (4510, 4610, 4710) (and your 110TLB, Martian) still ran the Yanmar engines. It was only because Deere needed those engine sizes for other outside customers that we were able to get them for our usage. In fact, a birdie told be that there is a particular product line that is going from Deere PowerTech engines to Yanmar engines for 2013 Model Year...

...but I just ordered, and am still waiting on the factory to build mine. If waiting a extra month would have meant I'd end up with a significantly better tractor, at the beginning of a new 8 year cycle, then i'll be disapointed...

Even if we had confirmation right now that a new 3x20 / 4x20 was coming we would be looking at spring of 2013 before they would likely start shipping. The current 3x20 / 4x20 assembly line is humming along right now - it would have to be stopped and re-tooled before starting again. I have been through this scenario many times before and it is not very much fun. Forecasting, ordering and inventorying what you "think" will be the right number and product mix for when Deere "says" the new machines will start to ship. And then you have the debacle that was the 1 Series awhile back.

IMHO you are much better getting your new tractor now, before the new Tier restrictions, costs, etc.

I love the Yanmar engines! The PowerTech are great, but I've had quite a few Yanmar products and all are great quality. It is also the exact point I'm trying to make to some Kubota dealers in another thread that seem to think outsourcing is not a good idea. In the end it's all about dollars and cents and if it makes a good quality product at a lower price to the consumer, I consider it a no-brainer.

I thought I heard that some of the JD skid steers, that used the PowerTech 4024T engines, are moving back to the Yanmar engines. If that is true, I does that mean the 4000 series is heading that way also, maybe due to emissions and cost? If so, that is too bad; the PowerTech 4024T is a nice engine...

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking/hoping. The 3520 isn't any less tractor after the new ones come out.

Very interesting. My 317 has a 4024T in it and i love it! It runs great, my grandpa did say it was kinda loud but I think the Kubota V2203-b in his Bobcat is louder. However I did love the reliability of the engine on my old Yanmar tractor and would be happy with either brand in the same machine.
