New ZTR mower, pick one

Looking at an Exmark Quest series or a Husqvarna. Not looking to break the bank. Want to spend ~ $3500. Want something with a cutting deck between 48-54 inches. Thanks for any advice.

Simplicity also made by Ferris is a decent machine starting at roughly that point. Also I have heard Tractor Supply has an inexpesive version of the Bad Boy?

You should also check the used commercial units - they can be had for that price range too.

I wanted a ZTR built like my old Wheel Horse (built to last for decades). I couldn't afford what I wanted new so I bought a 2006 Cub Cadet Commercial Tank M48-KW for $3150 on ebay a few weeks ago.

I am happy and would recommend this route as an alternate. There are other Tanks on eBay.

I work on these things and can tell you Dixon and Cub are nothing but trouble. I also do not care for Briggs motors.

If it were me I would get a Ferris 500. Its going to cost a bit more up front but you will be money ahead in 3 years. The cheaper units just cant be repaired cheaply due to one piece sealed axles, stamped decks, ect, ect, ect.

My second choice would be a Scagg, Exmark, or Bad Boy.

First choice in motor would be Kawasaki then Kohler.

So if I gave you the choice of a residential model Exmark and a Husqvarna, you'd take the Exmark?

Its what I am leaning towards, because the dealer is in town and services them.
