They delivered my 5240 yesterday afternoon. Had 1.8 hours when they backed it off the truck and is sitting at 3.6 as of now. Used the hoe/thumb to pull a few fence posts and leveled off a pile of topsoil but other than that didn't do too much, ran out of daylight. The power is fantastic, although haven't taken it over 2300 rpm yet so there is still some power left. It's raining all day today but supposed to be very nice this weekend so i'll be putting some hours on it.

Of course the obligatory pictures!

Congratulations Will! That is a glorious looking machine. Can't wait to hear your impressions after you get some mud on the tires

Agreed, that really is a nice tractor and beautiful scenery.

I have no real need for a back hoe, but when I see something like that, I want one.:licking:

What a jewel.

It is about as close to an all-in-one machine as you could possibly find.

There will be many, many hours of enjoyment with that for sure.

Great looking tractor!

Property is beautiful also! If you don't mind, how much property do you have? I have a little over 8 acres. Plenty to keep my L3400 busy.

I am sure you will use her with pride.

We have 17 acres total but the neighbor farms about 7 of that, so we maintain about 10 acres. Some day i would like to cut hay off that 7 acres and about 3 or 4 more but that is a couple years down the road.

Thank you.

Actual address isn't even a map dot but I'm near near Mt. Pleasant (if that helps at all), about an hour east of Pittsburgh.

Nice looking rig. I like the new backhoe design. I have a BH90 on my L4240 and give it about as much work as my Bush hog. You need a grapple for moving the trees and rocks you dig up with the backhoe.

Fun spending others money!

I thought about a grapple but settled for a mechanical thumb instead. It is a blast spending others money and then when it's time to write your own check it not nearly as fun. Haha.

Did you have them set in the widest position? Couldn't tell from the pics.

My L5740 is a few weeks out yet. Can't wait!

Yes they are set to the widest position. I took it on some of the steeper places of my property and it seems to feel very stable. I'm still not used to it but that is nothing more seat time won't fix, but not being comfortable or used to the way it feels on hils it still seemed very stable, if that makes sense.

Did you decide on the 5740?

Well I have about 12 hours on it now and I love it more every time I get on it! I spent about seven hours on Saturday working on moving a large pile of shale/dirt that was left over when they dug my foundation. This stuff is very difficult to dig into but the 5240 did it with little to no trouble. Fuel usage does not see bad at this point, using between .6 and .8 gallons per hour mostly with the loader work but a few hours of mixed everything. All said I am very pleased at this point.
