Ok some of my computers don't accept cookies so I have to log in every time I visit TBN on some of them.

Over the past few years, logging in has gotten less convenient, having to wait while pop-ups load, which interrupts typing in my username and passwoerd causing that to fail. (Somebody needs to remember keeping the site user-friendly)

Recently the opening pop-up asking visitors to join TBN shows a new picture of a happy couple on 60+ year old Ford tractor. The steering on these old machines was hard and by now most of them steer REALLY hard and the smiling face on the woman at the wheel is completely unbelievable. So is her two-fisted tight grip on the wheel.

Advertisers and PR people often ruin their credibility by showing how little they really understand their subject - but THIS on TBN? Really?

I don't know, I have a 62 year old Ford without power steering that driven correctly can be steered with single hand. I not saying that ps isn't better but it can be done and I enjoy using the tractor as much as I enjoy my new 2011 CaseIH. Old iron kind of gets into your.

We're working on a new, more functional pop-up that will let you log in right through the pop-up.

Whenever those pop-ups are loading I can not do anything, and I also noticed that my back button does not work very well on this site. Sometimes I have to hit the back button 2, 3, and even 4 times before it will go back. I have checked other sites and this DOES NOT happen for me.

We have a new pop-up now that allows you to log in right from the pop-up.

Thanks for the feedback.

That reminds me of a Vacuum Cleaner advert I saw once.

It showed a woman lifting the Vacuum Cleaner effortlessly up the stairs as she vacuumed away.

That looked all fine, but when I actually had the Vacuum Cleaner myself, I found it weighed a tonne, and there was no way you could lift it in real life and look that happy about it.

Why does TBN need a registration pop-up at all?

I've been a programmer for more than 18 years and if experience has taught me anything, especially when it concerns web design, it's that content is king. In other words, the content of the forum is far more likely to encourage people to register than a pop-up.

Pop-ups, also known as nag screens, are universally hated and if there is any doubt, one need only do a Google search for the term "How to block Pop-ups?" to see the overwhelming number of results. If people are inclined to register, they will do so, eventually. If not, a pop-up isn't likely to change their minds.

Unfortunately, CSS and JavaScript based pop-ups like the one that's being employed by TBN have been spreading across the web like the plague, probably because they are more difficult to block. Note that I said difficult, not impossible. That said, many people simply choose to disable JavaScript altogether or take other radical action(s) for this very reason.

Personally, I have always followed this simple mantra with great success... Content good, pop-ups bad.

i tried to get onto TBN yesterday from my shop computer, which isnt set up with firefox and ad block. while i was trying to log in, the ENTIRE screen was washed out with the signup pop-up...and i couldnt get it to disappear. i couldnt log in. I used to be able to click somewheres else on the screen and it would disappear... not anymore

its worse than ever. I finally just logged off .

Apparently there is a bug with the close button, which I will be fixing shortly. Sorry for the inconvenience.

How can I get rid of this stupid popup for good. It appears each time I visit a new page. This is rediculous. It needs to be done away with.
