there is no way I can swing a B right now because we just bought the property, are building a small house there, and are still paying rent. SO, I have decided to let it go for a year, use a cheap riding mower for a couple of trails and field paths I want to keep clear, and then once the house is built, we won't be paying rent anymore. Then I can look into it again.

Also, Doswacko,

How long does it take you to cut the 20 acres with your bx25?

thanks
Austin

If I rush it takes about 10 -12 hours
I usually take a whole weekend to do it at a more leisurely pace.

I opted for the smaller frame due to its being able to make it in smaller places then my JD410 to pull trees out of the woods.
Its also a lot easier to change implements on the BX series.

Have you researched real-world pricing? I bought a B2920 for $15400 (including front loader and filled R4 tires) back at the end of December. A B2620 of the same specs would have been $14700. Some of the monthly payment numbers you were throwing around seem way out of whack with actual street prices.

I am in the same situation as you with some new land, and decided to get the tractor now to help me on the new property from the get-go. That carried additional expense for a proper trailer since I don't want to leave the new tractor up there just yet. But overall, it will be worth it, and the tractor has already earned my praise and respect. On our current house, I did all the land prep and landscaping without a tractor, and it was darn hard work. Probably took years off my life.

My advice is to get the tractor as soon as you possibly can, and get one that will be plenty big for current and future needs. Looking back, you won't regret it. But if you cut corners now, you definitely will regret it in the future.

Yall are correct. I ran the numbers of a BX 2660 with a mower deck and FEL and got $367 a month. A B2320 with FEL and 60" deck is $383. HMMMMMM

Agreed. Bought a B2320, FEL,R4, 50 hour service materials, Block heater, delivered 80 miles to my driveway. Payment is $150 less per month w/zero than the figures quoted above..

x3

I bought a B3200, FEL, R4s, in '09 with 0% financing for 48mo and the payment was only $355/mo, which also included insurance.

I guess I will have to run around and see what they can do for me. I'm just using the numbers off the Kubota website. 48 months at 0%.

Wow guys. Yall have really stepped it up and helped me out with the purchase. I would have never thought that a RFM would be better. I will have a small lawn tractor for around the house and I do have lots of trees. I'm not sure which way I would go, but I am rather cheap so...... I might go with the land pride. I wonder if a local dealer could put that with the tractor purchase so I could finance it.

Before we buy anything I'm going to have to build a tractor shed with doors because we currently don't live on the property.

If I did take it back and forth, would a B series fit under a standard garage door?

Yes on the Land Pride equipment purchased with the tractor. LP and Kubota have an alliance. Don't give up too quickly on the purchase because dealers need to move inventory. Go to multiple dealers and be honest up front .. tell them that you are looking for the dealer with the sharpest pencil. I bought a B3200 for less than another dealer would sell a B3300SU - the SU being an 'economy' tractor. My B3200 with a dealer installed hydraulic remote ($700 plus) is just a tad over $315 a month. I had it a month before I wrote the 1st check.

So far my two month old BX2660 with 60" MMW and FEL is handling the chores on my 60 acre ranch here in SWF just fine. It replaced a John Deere 4100 without a loader. I use my JD bush hog for the rough stuff.

Also have a BX2200 in WNC which does just fine on the 163 acres there (all but 5 acres are straight up the mountain) Also use it to mow the logging roads though out the property. Hope to add a FEL to it this summer.
