Martin says-I compared, and yes I paid more than some other brands, but I found that although I paid more upfront I get more in resale down the road, so it really makes up for it?
Martin, How many tractors have YOU sold??? The dealer finaceing will kill your resale value.:ashamed:

Murph, you've took this way out of hand. You don't like Deere that's perfectly fine, no need to make it seem like we're stupid for buying them. They are one of the largest, if not the largest tractor maker in the world today, there's a couple people besides just me and Roy that see value in them.

My question to you was not supposed to be showing any "sass" for lack of a better word, I simply wondered why you didn't asked the question like Deere is not a good tractor to buy.

And I have sold quite a few tractors myself and received much more than off trade in. Even off a trade in, though, I will receive more for a Deere than a similar competitor. I don't understand your rant...

Martin I like John Deere tractors, I don;t like their prices. I never said you or roy were stupid. I actually respect you both. :)

From what I have read on TBN, prices, attitudes and dealerships VARY so much from dealer to dealer area to area that it can really skew what people think of certain brands.

I know that back when I was first looking at new tractors I was having real difficulty with ALL of my local dealers. Attitudes and being condescending and arrogant were unbelievable. Then I found TBN and read about all these great dealers and I thought " What world do these people live in?". People talked about how much their dealer would help them out, even let them take a tractor home for a weekend to try it out.

When all you had seen was negative, it is hard to grasp that it is not that way everywhere. A person that my wife talks with on the Internet has bad things to say about every off brand that there is. I asked her what in particular was her problem with these brands. ALL of her complaints ended up to be dealer oriented and really had nothing to do with the off brands. But because of these poor dealerships she has bad feelings for these off brands when it is not the brand, but the dealer.

John Deere probably has the best overall dealer network followed by Kubota. BUT, if you are in an area that has a great off brand dealer that knows what is going on and is willing to help the customer (one of the reasons that he would be a great dealer), I believe that the service even with serious mechanical problems can and would be taken care of in a timely manor. ALL brands have BAD dealers some where. Bad dealers are not isolated to off brands, sadly just a little more common because standards may not be as high as with the major brands. :(

Just my :2cents:

Very well said. I will not, and have walked out on dealers, that bash other brands. Totally irresponsible and really turns me off the brand. My area is about 60% Deere 20% NH/Case and 20% Kubota. Deere has by far the best dealer and the only "off brand" dealer is clueless. Multiple off brands have dropped him he's so bad. Kubota doesn't have a dealer very close (30-45 min) and Deere has about 4 closer is the only reason.

Well guy I'll just get right in and say y I want a John Deere it's because that's what I grew up with lol and it's something I know just works and something I know I can depend on... I know that they are expensive but so are they all from the research I have done. Also I think it is true about the one dealer being better the next.. And I'm not that the other tractors are dependable it's just that I I LIKE JOHN DEERE ..

How do turf tires work with chains?? Cause I'd would like tires that don't mess up my grass to much.

/ John deere 3000 series #48
Chains in the winter are a good idea, not anytime else though. If you are going to be mowing with this machine then turfs may be a good idea but industrials are really good on grass

That's good to know thanks then I won't be scared of ether

If you can get a good deal on either then both would be perfectly fine. I like the industrials because I don't mow but am still on lawns, if your mowing though, then turfs make sense.

Well my two cents. I started 25 years ago with a used 317, then sold it about 3 years later for what i paid. Bought a mint 755/loader/60" mid mount/york rake with 70 hrs. Great little machine. Put about 700 hours on it and sold it in 05 for about 3000 less than I paid-could have got more but it was a "charity" sale to a relative at the wife's insistence. Bought a new 3320 with 300 CX. Hydro, loaded turfs and 300 CX.- Oh I should add about two years prior I got tired of dealing with putting the mid mount on and off and I parlked it and bought a 60" Land Pride rear mount. Kept that when I bought the 3320 and soldf the mid mount with the 755.

I bought a 3320 for the same reason others have pointed out- wanted to avoid a turbo. worried about my kids running it hot, not idling down etc.

Power has never been an issue. I've pulled a lot of big logs out of the woods (green oak, 20" butt, 20' long) -no sweat. Also plowed my 500' gravel drive with a 6' Meyers that I rigged up- snow country, central MA-last winter over 100". I b oughrt a 6" Valby PTO chipper a couple of months ago and for the first time power has been a bit of an issue. So, it will handle a 3" pine sapling about 20' long in about 7 seconds. 4" and you have to be a bit more patient.

Two weeks ago I lucked out and bought a 4720 Cab with 200 hours on it. I was going to get a Curtiss cab for the 3320 but I would have spent 4 grand and the 4720 was too good to pass up.

Now we finally had about 3" of snow the other nite and for the first time in 20 plus years I did not freeze my butt off. But I'll tell you this. The 3320 has an HD 73" biucket. The 4720 has the same bucket. Big difference is the 4720 has about a 10" higher reach at the bucket hinge- that makes it a lot easier to load my old B-61X. And it is quicker than the 3320. But guess what- I can fill that bucket with the 3320 with the same amount of material.

Bottom line- 3320 is a great bullet proof machine in my book. If you really need the PTO HP, go for the 3520 or 3720 if your pocket book allows but I never had any second thoughts about my decision.

I hope I'm as satisfied with the "new" 4720. Oh and I should add, one of my sons started with a 110 antique, sold that for what he paid for it, bought a 455 and ran that for a couple of years and sold that for what he paid for it. He now has a 2520 that he bought with 130 hours. My other son made a lot of money with a 655 ZTrak and I bought that from him last year when he bought a used 7?? ZTrak.

We are Deere Green-and Ford Blue for a reason- you stick with what works for you.

PS 3320 is for sale if you are close to MA!

Trenton,

SD? Forget it-go to Tractorhouse .com. You'll find all sorts of 3320's in the midwest. Its like I tell people around here when they say they can get one on Tractorhouse for 2 grand less than mine- I say fine! Depend on pictures to confirm conditions, pay the $1000 in freight to move it, and tell me what you saved. bottom line I want someone to SEE my machine, look at my maintenance records and pay me for the care I've given my machine.

In any case, here it is

What tractor do you run Martin??

Well my 3x20 tractor is a 3120. Stopped producing them. My ideal tractor would have been either a 35/3720 but this tractor was a demo with 24 hours "new" and came with a full warranty, and "new" tractor financing below what the dealer had paid for it, so I had to go for it. 300X R4 industrial and one rear remote.

I'm pretty sure the mid-PTO was an option (it was on the 4400, which I have), so not every 4410 has midmount mower capability.
The 4410 is a nice tractor. As far as power, it's more comparable to the 3520 then the 3320. No turbo on the 4410 though.
