john deere 2305
Hello from the new kid on the John Deere 2305 block. Hope I do this posting correctly. I installed a 54" snow blade (hydraulic operation) on my 2305. Having never before removed the 54C mid-mount mower deck, I set about that task, since I didn't want the mower deck on the tractor over the winter while plowing snow. During the summer the rockshaft lever raised and lowered the mower deck and the three point hitch. While following the directions for removing the mower deck, the rockshaft lever would not raise or lower the mowing deck as it did in the summer, although it still worked fine with the three-point hitch. So the mower deck is still attached. Where to from here? Does it matter that I installed the plow before removing the mower deck? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello POPolito and WELCOME TO TBN:)

I'm not familiar with that setup, but it seems obvious you removed something for the deck to not be raising or lowering.
As for the blade being put on,I don't think there is any interference with that and your deck, being the blade doesn't have a subframe under the tractor where your deck is.
Hopefully someone that knows this deck setup will chime in.

One thing I will say though. Rule of thumb (what I do anyway) if you aren't using it (attachment) it shouldn't be on the tractor. It just greatly increases the chance of accidental damage. My .02:)

Is the left 3 point arm still engaging the mower lift arm?

Is the dial for mower deck height set at install?

I agree with bigtiller.
You need something to keep the 3PH arms spread apart so the bellcrank above the left arm is engaged to lift the deck. My 2305 came with a round bar installed across the arms, I replaced it with a 24" drawbar.

If your height adjustment knob is in the install position, the mower won't raise.
There is also a knob (below the seat) which adjusts the speed that the 3PH falls, and a lock.

Mowing decks are way to expensive to leave on the tractor when you're doing anything other than mowing.

Good luck, let us know if you get it figured out.

Chipsndust, correct me if I'm wrong, but if I recall correctly on my 2305, if I have the knob on the ''install position'' I can still raise the mower. The ''install position'' permits the mower to lower completely down for removal or for attachment. On the other hand, if you have the knob on the ''lock'' position, this will lock the mower in the highest position and keeps it from lowering.

You are right, thank you, I stand corrected. That's what happens when I try to post before I've finished my coffee!

I hope POPolito gets it figured out, and posts back to let us know.

Anything new from the dealer on your tractor Henri?
