I've been looking for a snowblower for years and found a good deal on a Lorenz model for by B2620 hydro. The seller says it's a 60", which would be good I think, but Lorenz says they only make a 66" which I'm afraid is too much for my tractor. I won't know til I get there to buy it what size it is, but is the 66" just going to be unusable for me? Most of our snowfalls are about 8", but we do get few 12"+ storms a year around here. I had a 60" farmking blower on a 28 HP John Deere (25 hp pto) and it worked great for many years. Whats your pto HP?

No worries as long as you do not drive too fast in
reverse and slow down to avoid bogging down and
stalling the snow caster.

The impeller fan is the life blood of the snow caster
and the open cross auger simply brings snow into
the center of the snow caster and the reverse
motion of the tractor stuffs it in there.

As long as you go slowly when you need to you will
be fine. Do not forget that you can take half cuts
when you need to as well.

I agree with Leonz! I had a Woods SS-60 on the back of my Kubota b-7500 for several years with little or no problems. You will be in reverse and I alway stayed in low range so the speed was slow, but plenty enough power to blow snow. I also put a sheet of plexiglass across the back or the rops which really helped with the blowing snow coming back on me!

I run a Lorenz 630 72" on my tc25d with no issues to date. 25 Engine HP, 20 PTO HP... I think a 60 inch is a model 530. Lorenz did change models sometime ago.

I have found with snowblowers when you are into a VERY heavy cut I am only able to use 1 foot of the width. This is because the chute is full and the vertical height could be 4 feet. so I am putting in 4 cubic feet of snow per foot of travel .
So the width of your blower is not of a major concern. It is only a problem on the first pass in that you might have to raise the blower off the ground.
When I have had to blow 3 feet full width all I can do is raise the blower up and back in until I come to a halt.
This is being done with a 26 HP Kubota.

Not on the first pass - but you can go 1/2 speed.

If you're planning on always going 1/2 speed or taking 1/2 cuts then yes, the blower is too big.

I ran a 60 inch blower with my 15 HP b6200 and it worked ok but I had to go slow in deep snow. I upgraded to a B2620 last week and will run the same blower. You should not have any trouble with your 12" snow falls with a 60 or close blower.

well, for better or worse I bought it. Turns out to be a model 530, they say 66" wide, but the augers (there are 2) are 60" wide. It was a good deal and is in excellent shape, so I can always sell or trade if it doesn't work out. Used snowblowers are almost impossible to find around here.

Congrats I think you will do just fine with the 60" blower. If there is any advice I could offer it would be to check the fluid in the gear box, grease the drive chains, lub the u- joints and buy a bunch of shear bolts to have on hand. We live on a dirt road and have about 1200 feet to keep open and there hasn't been a single snow season that I didn't pick up a large rock and blow a bolt.

Fisher engineering (snowplow Mfg) had a saying on their plow blades
"Always plow with the storm" meaning, if we are getting a foot to 18" of snow maybe go out at 6' or 8" and clear the yard rather than waiting until the storm is over and trying to tackle 1&1/2 ft of wet heavy snow.

Agree with you there. the only time i havnt done that is when a freak 36" snowfall hit overnight when NONE was predicted

I try to go out 2 or 3 times during a big storm. This last freak october storm caught us all off guard with 27 inches overnight. That was no fun blowing. Heavy, wet and deep was a long slow process.
At least now I know my new to me tractor and blower will handle a big storm.
