Brush Hog Maintenance

I have a FarmForce bush hog that was under water from a flood.
I have greased all fittings. Should I drain the gear box and refill with new gear oil?
Where is the gear box drain plug located? Must the disc that holds the 2 blades be removed to gain access to the drain plug? MD

I'm unfamiliar with that brand, but I would definately replace gear oil if unit has been submerged. On most shreders I've used the drain plug is on the side of the gear box, above the deck. Sometimes it is a drain plug like on a car with a hex "bolt" head, sometimes a pipe plug with a square head and sometimes a allen wrench type plug. Even if on the bottom, I would thnk there is enough room to get a wrench in between the stump jumper and the plug.

Definitely change the oil. I would grease the shaft as best you can as well

Some units do not have a drain plug. You can buy a $11.00 suction gun at your local Autozone.

And yes, drain that gear oil

drain and fill are likely the same. if it swam.. I'd probably flush the box with diesel and swing it upside down and train and perhaps use a garden pump sprayer loader with diesel to irigate it.. drip dry, then refill with gear oil.

when you grease.. grese all fittings till old grease is pushed out.. except don't overgreas ethe tail wheel hub if it is a seled kind.. can push the seals out..
