John Deere Syracuse plow 1878

I have a John Deere Syraucus Plow which belonged to My Uncle it's say's
NO.2 1878. I'm trying to find out information on it. Does the NO.2 mean the size or is it the second one made. any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I wish you had answered on this forum as I have the same plow. I have been researching it for a few days now. I can post a picture tomorrow if interested.
