Branson 4720
My Branson 4720 was running fine one day than the next it started losing power. I was doing light work so work so I tolerated it at first. As the day progressed it got worse and had to shut it down. I discovered the fuel pump wasn稚 working so put on a new Mr. Gasket pump with an in line pre-filter. A few years ago I by passed the factory fuel filter so I have another in line filter after the fuel pump. My issue is it still won稚 make power, I have bled the air at the injector pump and at the injectors I also checked all of the clamps on the fuel lines. I am thinking about putting all new lines on to eliminate one more variable. Any other ideas?

Replace fuel filter after pump? It might be clogged.

Did you get the replacement pump with the correct fuel flow rating?

The pump is a Mr. Gasket diesel fuel only rated at 4 to 7 psi. The flow rate is not stated on the package. I put all new lines and clamps on the tractor with the same result. I am starting to think it may be the injector pump. $$$.

I would go back to the OEM fuel pump, go back to the factory fuel filter and get it running.

It could be the FIP, but it could be bad fuel, so consider if you have some water or even gasoline in your fuel. It could also be a clogged line. It is a small outlet in the tank. Checking that isn't hard. If poor gravity flow, blow back into the tank to clear the outlet. Sounds like you are on the right track. Of course intake air restrictions will cause this problem also.

Thanks All,

I found the problem! On the first/front injector there is a small hose that runs from the injector pump up to the base of the injector. I have no idea what it does but if it is loose, it will suck air. I put a new clamp on it real tight and I now have full power. Problem fixed. Thank the Lord.
