Just bought a 2010 SC2400 with loader mower box blade. Looks like a nice little rig! Will be replacing my 5234 which I have sold. Pics to follow!

Pics attached.
Some initial observations....with a lighter SCUT, front loader, R4 tires, and no rear ballast, my first trip down my gravel driveway was interesting.....hopping and skipping down. 5234 just walked right down, but it didn't have the loader and had R1's.
It has many improvements over the 5234....shift on the fly (really like that) can choose between the rear/mid PTO...seems like higher ground clearance....cruise control...and hydraulics set up a bit better.
Very nice little rig!

Now I need a set of R1 tires.....does anyone know if I can just switch tires on the current rime, or have to switch rims as well??
And, anybody know of a set I can get?

Lots of toys there! Hope you don't run out of dirt to shove around or you'll be looking for a larger place soon.

I also have just come to the darker side. Long time lurker, learned tons here, thanks. Many posts and videos. Just got a SC2450 as well as a box scraper and scraper blade. Arrived today. I now have an old Kubota B7100 for sale with a few implements. Wanted something with FEL and BH. Will get a front mount snow blower this fall, probably a Bercomac

We are expanding our backyard to prepare for a likely wedding here next year - or the following. That was ticket that my wife needed to let me upgrade. Yard is full of weeds and is uneven. Clearing out some brush, a few trees and quite a few rocks. Just learning still. No problems with the embedded rocks just below the surface. Took out a stump, that was a lot tougher, but got it done. I also have plans to increase my parking area and storage area for all this new stuff. My lane is about 500ft and needs some care as well. The old machine was primarily for snow removal, and so will this new one, but the SC2450 will have so much value when winter is over.

Dealer was great. Muskoka Rent-All. Delivered for free, did demo on removing/connecting BH. Set up the 3PH for me. Welded on chain hooks to bucket, and painted, no extra charge. Great deal on the 2 scrapers as well. Already used the hooks a number times, including offloading the box scraper.

Sounds like you're going to put that machine to good use. Sounds like a good dealer as well. What part of the country are you located?

I've had this issue as well. My property is quite steep, and with the bucket on, downhill travel requires caution if there is no ballast unless in 4wd.
My tires are loaded, but if I don't have something on the 3pt or use 4wd the rear tires will skip as you describe. Wasn't sure if this was common with scut's or just this particular one.

Huntsville, Ontario. About 2 hours north of Toronto - "Cottage country"
I will send some pics later

I've heard good things about the bercomacs. I know Cub had issues with it's first SC 2400/2450 blower, but have since replaced it with a much better 52" unit. Pretty $spendy$ from what I hear. No idea what the Bercomac's cost.
I already had a front hitch to fit my 2400, and the older style blade and blower that should fit right in. I've actually got a few blowers, 48" and 54", wondering if the 2400 will handle the 54".... It's built quite a bit heavier.

I would think that's with any SCUT/CUT in that configuration.
The more I think about it, I'm quite sure I was in 2WD, which would contribute greatly.

My dealer was aware of the new 52" from Cub. He thinks - as he hasn't seen the Berc in question yet - is a 48" model, heavy duty, direct shaft from mid PTO but uses a timing belt internally which is user replaceable.

options include hydraulic swivel and height adjuster. The thing he wants to make sure is that the sub mount stays on the tractor and will not interfere with the FEL making it a quick-attach system

He thought price would be about 1000-1200 less than the 52" from CUB. He is expecting delivery mid Sept

I have the Sb 52 and the 2400 handles that well and it is much heavier than the sb45

now I just need another tractor I have the sad need to say I destroyed my sc2400
had an adjuster wheel fall out of the mower deck part way it bent back and broke off at the pin area on the right rear wheel and somehow managed to get up inbetween the rim and tire causing the tractor to lift up on the wheel and tire and start leaking air. Of course it did this on a 40' tall hill at a very steep angle while I was trimming a telephone pole. I heard a grinding noise the tractor didnt move forward, I looked down saw fluid coming out of that rear tire parked on the down hill side of the slope and clicked the seatbelt hit the key and baled off it. Sad to say I could not get to the truck to get it back and tie up the tractor had to sit there and cry as I watched it buck jump and roll on down the hill.
Thank god for insurance, and nobody got hurt

hoping to replace it all soon in the meantime using a Kubota F series to mow with the only thing I could pick up close by with 4 wd and that I had enough cash to buy it with while waiting for the insurance and finances to work out

Holy crap Gordy. I was really rooting for you and that machine. You were setting the standard for time on the machine. Glad you're OK.

Two questions:
What's an adjuster wheel? One of the caster wheels? I guess I could see that happening if you lost a pin on a steep grade. But still what freak accident.

And who is your insurance co?

Gordy-
Man that sound scary, very glad you made it off ok. I've been doing slope work all summer and don't like it at all.
Ironically, I just listed my 6284...!:)

yes the rear caster wheel its held up by a clevis pin held in by a hairpin cotter pin for whatever reason the cotterpin must have fallen out the clevis pin fell out the wheel slid down when I lifted the deck and the rest is history. at least that is what I think happened I know the cotter pin and clevis pin were in before that morning as I have had one fall out at an earlier time so I make it a point to check all the attaching cotter pins during the morning walk around and shot of grease.
as for the insurance it was with state farm they were just all around one awesome company to work with, have had all my cars trucks houses etc. all my life with them, first real claim ever and they were just awesome all around.
the only bright spot in a very gloomy incident I dreamed I was on it rolling for nights afterwards..

Is your policy a standard home owners or a farm policy?
If you don't mind me asking.

/ Finally came to the dark(er) side #18
its a commercial contractor liability policy with an inland marine policy attached to it basically like a farm policy covers the tractor on property other than my own

/ Finally came to the dark(er) side #19
Ah that makes sense.
Good luck with your next purchase, and stay safe.

Gordy,

So is there any truth to the rumors that you are making preparations to jump the Grand Canyon on a CUT next spring? I thought that was total BS until I read this thread where it kind of sounds like you're perfecting your bail-out techniques. I know stunt men make big bucks, but seriously......

Glad you are O.K.
