Portable water heater!

This probably has nothing to do with the OP except it reminded me of a TV show I saw where these guys were trying to build a copy of a Roman spa that was fired by wood. By the end of the show, they had gained more respect for Roman building methods and even thought it was fairly efficient.

Today's water heaters have temperature and pressure relief valves and thermostatic controls to limit the water temperature so the heater doesn't go above 212 F, become a boiler and blow up. If you're heating water in an open container, that's one thing. But if you heat it in an enclosed vessel, better be careful.

1500 gal is a HUGE hot tub. my 8 man tub only takes 500 gallons. You must like to party......

lets see 500 gallon tub is = to a little over 200 cubic feet =when you counsider a 3 foot depth then the tub would be 8'x8' or 64 sq. feet for 8 men-that's 8sq feet per man, thats a area of 4'x2'! That is a little close for me! I ll stick to our 1200 gallon thank you! 8 men in a tub 'rub a dub dub'! It's You who must like to party:laughing:

I built a fire box one time that fit over in the side of a hot tub. It was a top fill and to get the air at the fire I bent a steel pipe and weded it in the bottom of my fire box. THe flue was on the side of the box at the top. It worked good but was a pain to scoop out the ashes from the top. The outside was stipped with wood to avoid contact to skin.
.

Yes we have one like that that we can heat a 5 gallon bucket of water with. It works great but on the larger scale we thought it wood load up to quick with ash!:)

measures 32 x 14 x 8"d.

weighs 18 lbs.

:)Good ideal!;)BUT a 20# propane tank when full weighs 38 to 40# and will run 12 hrs(your figure) so if it takes 6 hours to heat 1200 gallons of water then that's 2 uses per bottle and it will take the best of one day for one mule to pack 3 tanks in to camp for 6 days use and another 1/4 of a mule to pack in the others mules feed!??? In camp I have a unlimited supply of fire wood. I need to stick to useing fire wood as my heat sorce, free and don't have to pack it in. use my mule to pack something else in.:drink:
