A friend of mine has come to me about a problem with his Cub Lo-boy, the coolant is dissapearing in his system and he cannot find the leak. He thinks it maybe the radiator......but we cannot figure out how to pressure test it to fix it. Has someone come up with a way to pressure test this type of radiator? Also......if it is bad....any reccommendatons on a place to buy a rebuilt or after market one?

Thanks

Actually no.......this is my bosses tractor and as I can tell it is completly open at the bottom. He is losing fluid and he cannot pin point the leak. When you take the blasted radiator off.......the bottom is completly open! The bottom bolts on to the engine casting. We could have the radiator repaired but we can't find a leak.:confused2:

The cub did not have a "pressure" system. The radiator cap has no spring and builds no pressure. Here's a link: Farmall Cub Radiator Cap, original style

Maybe it's the radiator gasket leaking Farmall Tractor Parts and Restoration .

Here's another link to a core Radiator Core - Case / International Farmall Tractor Parts Shop .

Here's a link to how a cub radiator works: http://www.atis.net/CubFAQ/cub_faq_2.html .

Yall haven't mistakenly put a pressure cap on the radiator, have you ??? Or filled it too full.

I know a cub and Super A radiaotor will steam or "perculate" when it has been worked hard.

i'm well aware of the cub rad design with cast base. ( i own a cub ) my POINT was to put a rubber stopper into the top of the rad while seated onthe cast base.. add a couple pis air with a blowgun and THEN look for the leak.
