Can you all recomend a heavy duty skid steer bush hog type mover/cutter. The dept. I work with is interested in purchasing one and I have seen a Davco and it looks pretty sturdy but I'm sure there are others. It will be going on a Cat 287c high flow. It will used for cutting anything from bay bushes to small trees 6"(+/-). We already have a Fecon head but looking a Bush hog cutter.

Thanks

Davco is the best rotary. Expensive but the best.

Ammbusher is good but the motors and bearing housing break under extreme conditions (like rocks or hidden stumps).

I also have a Bradco and it is OK in material up to 3 inches and good for field mowing. It is half the cost of the Davco.

Thanks Qwik, with this machine there is no telling who my be running it and what they may try to cut when no ones looking.

I have Run an Ambusher for about four years. Quickdraw is right about the rocks and stumps. My biggest problem has been fat lighter stumps breaking blades when they get a little wear on them. It will cut an occasional six inch sweet gum, but a steady diet will ruin the shaft assembly and motor. i don't know of any except a Hydoax mower that will hold up on big stuff.

Davco isn't exactly a bushhog type, though. I ran a davco for a few years. It didn't chop near as fine as my Brushcat but it was built to knock down heavier woody material. Wasn't as good on high weeds and remulching cut stuff because the blades are short.

I like the newer brushcats from Bobcat. Much heavier duty gearbox and suspension linkange than any previous version and they follow the ground good.

Davco is a more simple cutter without a lot of moving linkage if you are just looking for a heavy duty rotary for taking out brush and small trees.
